    mackie tt24

hey. Has anyone had the chance to use the mackie tt24 digital console. From what I have seen on Mackie's website it looks to be a pretty good console for the price (about 5500 uk sterling). Im looking to put two (foh and mons) in an venue installation. Has anyone got any thoughts on this...

    Favorite Bass Drum Mic

Sorry but the AKG D112 is not all that! The D112 has been around for years and is an okay workhorse, but you may find that very few engineers will spec or be overly happy using one. There are many better kick mics out there to say D112 "no questions asked". J

    Favorite Bass Drum Mic

My favorite kick mic is the Audix d6. Hardly ever feel the need to double mic with that. Sometimes if the band want a real clicky sound i`ll chuck an sennheiser md421 inside the drum aswell.

    Stereo thoughts

Anyways try the stereo thing, i got taught it many years ago from a turbosound r+d engineer, ive used it a couple of times when doing studio work (mainly when in the lower quality ones without the nice fancy gear)

    Stereo thoughts

yeah my mistake on the phase switch, the way to do it way flip the signal on the cable. I was not talking bout doing in live sound - but i can be cool in the studio if used right! That is the basic way the lower end stereo processors work. Anyway i do hear you on the dual mono point, there...

    Stereo thoughts

Anyone use those stereo effects processors for vocals or anything? Found me self a cool way to achive the same effect, but without the cost of buying a processor! make yourself a splitter cable (1x female xlr- 3x male xlr), plug the input you want to use this effect on into the F-xlr then plug...

    Effects Processors

    >"defeated the effects processor by turning to the same setting as the other two processors,I would like to learn how to use it correctly!"< From your post it sounds like you have the effects processor across the main mix? Is that right? If so thats why it sounds bad. Use a post aux...

    setting up an amp

Sorry, i said 500w going to 400w cabs is not underpowering them. Now what i meant to say is its NOT OVERPOWERING them. Its just giving them enough! If you decide to install your amp in the booth, why dont you use the screw terminals for the outputs? Saves on the connector cost and IMO it...

    setting up an amp

500 watts going into 400watt cabs (rms im working on?) is NOT underpowering them! In fact the ideal power you want goin to them is about 800watts per cab - so in fact your JUST giving them enough power. A long as you dont run into clip, that 500watts will never damage your cabs. In our...

    The Great Question.........

Both have there place. Digital x-overs/ speaker processing work great, however i am not a fan of digital desks either - hard to use on the fly and when one goes wrong, it really goes wrong (not good during a large scale concert). Also they`ve brought out digi desks with just one cable going...

    crew night

Working in live music full time we tend not to do much socialy after gigs. However the once or twice per year i do theatre type stuff (once per year at my old school) on closing night the hole cast (ages 13-18yrs plus teachers) goes to a local pub and we all get wasted, well tho older looking...

    Overkill?

Yeah to a point it is all personal opion. I do like the l`accoustics v-dosc line- that does sound sweet! Werent to impressed with the nexo geo tho. But the F1 is the only system that has really blown me away- maybe because our system engineer really does know the system inside out!! But...
