    strand LBX

thanks. It's more to learn the console than to preprogram, im probably going to have an hour to program cues if that much time so i need to do as much as i can. The interesting part is that I dont get an exact plot or patch until I get there.

    strand LBX

express 48/96 + airlines = really bad idea. Also, they are running d54 dimmers i believe (def not DMX). I know it exists because I have found old archived forums of people using a dos-based program. Unfortunately the posts are 3+ years old, and the links are dead.

    strand LBX

Hey, my high school is performing in the edinburgh fringe festival. We are using a community theater with a strand LBX. I'm looking for the offline editor. Google has turned up nothing. If anyone has this or somewhere I can get it, that would be awesome. thanks

    2-Scene Board Question

I doubt many people will agree with me, but this is what I would do/have been doing at my school. first, let me say that running anything off of the NSI 7000 series makes me want to kill myself. i would ebay some old analog stuff. If you are clever, you can make your own "patch" out of a...

    Explosion!!!

so basically, a pneumatic spud gun. I've built several. My personal rule of thumb is to never exceed 1/3 the weakest link. do not try to tap pvc pipe. such a bad idea. and you dont need a compressor. If it's a one-off, a bike pump will work fine. It will take 3-5 minutes though...

    Live video projecting

for a quick and dirty, cheap way, heres what we do A standard projector, on a scrim. We had to turn it upside down, it came from the booth. We used a 50 foot s-video flown to a camera that was actually being used on stage. we then used a laptop for teh images. The big problem is the...

Holding together our brand new theatre

hey im in a similar situation. MY problem is that the teacher in charge doesn't really know anything. hes a part time history teacher who worked in a college theater for a year. running cable. I and a few others do have an idea of whats going on, either from outside experience or interest...

Whos burned them sleves on a light

weld splatter/slag is the best. I've burned myself by leaning down to get somethign that fell off of my desk and putting my hand down on a 60 watt soldering iron. Not one, but 3 blisters from that one. I have good enough reflexes to avoid burns from lights, but i do have a funny story So the...

    Lighting Boards/Controllers

we have an express, and its nice, but i've played around with horizon and would much rather run a show off of it. Maybe I'm also crazy, but i find the express system limiting at times, where i find myself programming upwards of 5 follow cues to do a simple effect. The thing I love about...

    Source 4 or Shakespeare

source 4 definately. Shakespeares are probably more expensive becasue teh bodies are freakin massive. They use more material. I would like to add one more reason to the list already given. I have had to fix a dropped shakespeare, and a broken s4 jr. Now, it is a junior, but its similar...

    A Survey / Q&A

hey, I'm writing my english term paper on one or two of these. regarding the colosseum, it was a ring that, although not being complete, was still incredibly large. It cast the audience in shadow while allowing the light to hit the center "stage" part. Historians and engineers have still...

    Lighting Light Sources & Bulbs

working in a high school with a budget so small that i find myself using wood with the name of a show from '98 written on it, and being a computer geek/future electrical engineer, I have started looking into making scanners. My school used the coffee can par 38s for a while. We did get some...

    Stupid Front of House Lights

hey, I find myself in similar situations needing a crazy solution to something. The thing that pisses me off though, is that I will spend 2 days coming up with a great idea that would work and only require stuff laying around the tech shop or my basement, and the teacher will be like, dont...

By what have you been electrically shocked? (NOT electrocuted.)

Re: wat have you been electicuted by ?I actually have avoided being shocked with live current in the theater. My list: 120v (stuck a paper clip in the outlet in 2nd grade, got hit testing a computer power supply i was converting to use with a practical, a toaster, and a few other ones)...
