The Quartz is an excellent console, and it fits right in your budget. In my opinion its just as powerful as an expert titan, with just a lot less physical "Buttons". It should even give you a little room to expand. I think Victor in the post above yours owns and uses one on tour.

Except a laptop + Command and fader wings is a pretty nice touring setup... And it's not a large 90lb console.

Gaff always goes down on the fixture before anything, including the pre-printed Avery type labels that I'll make for the larger shows. If nobody is going to see it, Neon yellow gaff with black sharpie. Honestly it's really easy to read in low light situations.Never heard of marking fixtures...
