UMHW as a replacement for casters?

Yes, I agree. But UMHW clearly has some potential in the right situations. It's just nice to have alternatives when budgets are small. Thanks

UMHW as a replacement for casters?

Excellent. So it depends on the application. That makes sense. I want to test it at least. I just cringe when I hear set pieces clunking across the stage. Especially when there are actors in front of the curtain. It kills the magic! We don't ever use a marley floor. We should, though...

UMHW as a replacement for casters?

Has anyone used UHMW as a way to move set pieces around? I had never heard of this plastic until this morning listening to an Adam Savage podcast where said he's used in the theater. Looking it up, I have seen it as bearings and the like, but I am intrigued by the possibilities of less noise...

    Silicone mold casting

Yes, that is, of course, a good idea. The closest Reynolds is a couple of states away, though and the hobby stores that I have been to that carry Smooth On don't seem to employ anyone that has any useful knowledge of the product or processes. Hence the reason to ask the forum.

    Silicone mold casting

Hello. I want to get into casting. Especially items like tools (crowbars, hammers) for props and go from there. I have watched the various videos and read some things from various builders and companies like Smooth On. I want to get into it, but it's so overwhelming that I don't know what to...

What we ended up doing is using a blue balloon and covering with what was basically a "hat" that was made of felt that was shaped and colored like a bird. It laid on top of the balloon and draped over the sides. On top was a semi rigid structure making the neck and head of the bird. We opened...

    Fake Pancakes and Rhubarb Pie

Thanks, Marshall. I will try the pancakes first. That can be done quickly. I like syrup idea. I will ask the director if that will work for her. Will the modeling clay dry and stay in place? Or do I glue it down? I have never eaten rhubarb pie but I think the filling is reddish in color...

    Fake Pancakes and Rhubarb Pie

Hello all.Does anyone have any experience with making prop food? Namely a stack of pancakes and a rhubarb pie. Our costume person told me last night to use "Great Stuff" sealer between two Styrofoam plates to make pancakes, but I have never done either.Does anyone have any ideas to try...
