    Hanging powered monitors

When I hung my SRM450s from the grid, I used a C-clamp on the pipe with the post pointing up, then cut a thick (2 3/4" pieces glued together) plywood "yoke", with a hole in the center to fit it on top of the clamp post, from which I could mount three eyebolts and link chain to hang the speakers...

    Microphones No response Countryman support.

Hi Jon -- if you need someone to bang on their door, I live a couple exits up the 101 from them in Redwood City ... I could always check to make sure the business is still alive and well ... ;)

Concealing a Speaker in a Vinyl Record player

Does it have to be in the rolling cart? I did this for a Victrola in a play a while back, ended up just placing a speaker behind a set piece in the vicinity of the phonograph, and using the 30 foot rule nobody could tell that the sound was not coming from the device.

Loudspeaker selection and placement in gymnasium

Einstein: "make it as simple as possible, but no simpler".If your primary concern right now is to provide sound for stage events, here' what I would do if it were my project ...Forget the ceiling speakers completely.Start simple ... three speakers L/C/R hung from the ceiling grid where...

    Musical Theatre Mixing Resources

iPad sounds like a good idea. At a minimum you can just take a pic of every script page and put them all in a photo album, just swipe left and right to move between them? With 100+ pages in most script this may be a bit of work …One more note on line by line fading .. DONT MUTE!! Fading by...

    Musical Theatre Mixing Resources

For mixing --Without DCAs, I found numbering the lines in the left margin with the input channel number circled was the easiest way to follow the script and do line by line fading. Here are a couple of example pages from when I did Aida years ago ...Fairly easy to follow. For this show...

    Loudspeakers Speakers on castors?

I had a couple of SRS1500 subs in a road case on casters for years and it didn’t seem to detract from their performance. Mains hanging from chains don’t seem to be bothered either.I think the physics of it (speaker mass compared to emitted sound pressure) would suggest the effects would be...

    Inexpensive Mic recomendations?

I remember a company in Florida that sold headset lavs for $99 ... can't find them now.But here's something I just found on Amazon:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009YAKLS8/?tag=controlbooth-20Read the reviews, not all bad. If I were in your shoes and there was a version of these that fit my...

Help some mics cutting out show opens Thursday

For frequency issues, you could try turning off the transmitters and see if the receivers pick up anything. I've run into this problem in the past, had to reset a couple of channels once or twice due to sos very loud noise being broadcast ...

Recommendations for Permanent install PA speakers - small black box theater

My gut would be to stick with as large a bass driver as possible, and/or for small speakers like that add a sub in the room to fill in the frequency range.A couple other suggestions --Polk Atrium 6 or 8 ... I installed a set (5 plus sub) of Atriums in the music room of the local middle...

Mixers/Consoles Order of channels on the mixer

I'm sure this is subjective, so here's my two cents --I do middle school instrumental music concerts regularly ... for the main orchestra/band floor I ordered the channels front to back, left to right, what made sense to me from a visual perspective. However I have four wireless mics that...

    How to mix

The only already mounted center speakers in theaters that I've worked were set up for lectures ... a cardioid mic mounted on a podium, usually well behind the speakers, and usually never moving from it's location. Pretty easy to avoid feedback. This obviously does not work for body mounted...

    How to mix

"One Day More" looks like a challenge! Thanks Jay for posting that ... great to see ...Joel, I hear your argument about dropping lines ... so do your best for what you are capable of.In past years I shadowed a couple of Broadway traveling shows -- Drowsy Chaperone and Wicked -- and in...

    How to mix

If you are doing the full sound design, then I will add a couple more suggestions to think about (I don't have time to go into detail, but there should be plenty of other threads discussing these):* Gain Before Feedback -- speaker placement * Fills -- the more speakers and speaker power you...
