    Switch mode isn't always switch mode, so its best not to run LED through and inductive load dimmer. LED use a sort of pulsing strobe technique to achieve dimming, thus all LED dimming is done via a dedicated LED dimmer, which is in essence a DC pulse generator.

    Leatherman because of the guarantee and how well built they are. Also I am starting to prefer US build quality over European as they just seem better quality. I find that loads of German products are now made in China.

    If you want to log who has what by checking kit in and out, why not just use HireHop. It is built as software for rental companies who basically do as you need, scan stuff in and out to keep track of what is going where. They even have a free version.
