Microphones Mics for youth musical theatre

Lyle, like you I've used a number of different wireless mic styles and brands over the years. I settled on the single ear hook mic style. Seems to work best with costume changes and active actors. Medical tape does wonders to keep a mic in place. I usually go with a small piece in front of the...

How many wireless mics do I need for school musicals?

Lyle,I can't say how many you might need in the future, but I can say after having provided production for school and community theatrical shows for 30 years, the most I remember using is 22 wireless units. I have 24 Sennheiser EW100 G3 systems in a 16 space rack with the necessary...

Economical solution to double my body mics?

I agree with jkowtko, a sub mixer would be the easiest solution. You mentioned a snake. Are your wireless mic receivers at stage? I have mine in a rack that sits at FOH. I use external paddle antennas (also at FOH) to reach the stage. Makes it much easier to monitor the wireless mics.LOVE my...

What to do with old wireless equipment?

I'd try selling them first. Ebay, Reverb or there are FaceBook pages where you might get some interest. There are still country's that can use those frequencies. You can always recycle if you can't sell them.

Rack panels for some RF linking and Ant. In

Can't remember if mine were the flat sided pass through connectors or not. I remember holding the front side lightly with a vice grip after wrapping the connector with a cloth to keep it from getting scarred. Haven't had any issues with it in the many years since.

Rack panels for some RF linking and Ant. In

I've done pretty well with a Brother label maker. One of these days I'm going to try different color tape and ink. Black on white is getting boring! lol

Rack panels for some RF linking and Ant. In

I bought blank single space panels and drilled the holes myself. Way cheaper than buying the pre-punched. They've worked well for me so far.

Tips to clean up wireless mic cables?

I have 24 Sennheiser units mounted in a 16 space rack. I made an XLR patchbay that mounts in the back with the antenna distros. I used little zip ties to group cables together and make it a little less messy. I also used velcro against the side walls to keep cables more out of the way. In making...

    Actor mics in monitors

I don't think I ever have run performers vocals through monitors at a school show. Every time I've tried, it ends up throwing them. It has a tendency to freak them out. I'm talking elementary and high school students. But in 30 years I have yet to come across an inexperienced performer that is...

How to use laptop for sound

I run laptops and iphones straight into a mixer all the time. But I plug into a stereo channel with 1/4" inputs, not a mic input.

    Good Microphone Stands ??

After 30 years of using cheap mic stands and having them not hold up, I decided to spend some serious money and purchased some Hercules boom stands with the EZ clutch system. I got the MS531B model. So far I'm pretty happy. Clients love the ease of the EZ clutch and I like the fact that they are...

    Sennheiser Mic Maintenance

Hi Nick,I clean my wireless mics after every show. We're currently running 24 channels of Sennheiser with earhook mics from Bodymics.I use GooGone on a disposable shop type towel. Wipe down the mic (not the element on the end of the boom) and cable. Sometimes it takes a bit of gentle...

    Omega bracket adaptors ....

Derek, That pretty much sums it up: I'm interested in a faster way to attach a clamp bracket to a light. Actually four lighting fixtures. From my research so far, it's not looking likely. If I wanted to open and possibly butcher my lights, I might be able to make something work, but it's not...

    Omega bracket adaptors ....

Morning Dan,It does fit in the case with the bracket attached. The problem is this:1 - The Spot Duo is a dual, moving head light with a large mounting hole in the middle for sliding over light stands. Which I do sometimes, depending on the setup for a show. 2 - The Spot Duo also comes with...
