    your lighting pics

I hope it's ok for us older folks to post our pics, if so http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/lightsjcs/slideshow?&.dir=/1b91&.src=ph If not please disregard. These are pics from Jesus Christ Superstar. I was the set and lighting designer as well as the Stage manager and Board op. 96 etc...

    Snow?

To add to what hollinj said - if you want it look as if the snow is falling on the entire stage, put the bag as far down stage as possible. The further up stage, the more distant the snow will apear.

    What's in your rack?

You are right it is just a cut and paste, which I know I shouldn't have done, but this is the bill of materials already purchased. So it the actual gear for our large theatre and I am still putting the list together for the other two spaces. I didn't mean to bog down the site, I just wanted...

    smoke machines and H&S

First find out if your detectors are heat or particle, if they are heat detectors you're free to smoke away. If they are particle then you need to find out if they are located out in the open or are they inside the hvac ducts, if they are in the hvac ducts you are free to fog away. BUT, if...

    How does Emphasis work?

SteveB, Thank you for all the info. I'm going to have Emphasis in two of my spaces and haven't had much luck finding any answers. The ETC website is pretty vague.

    Your opinions of Cordless Drill-Drivers

I've had my Dewalt 12v for 9 years and all ever needed to do was replace old batteries once.

    Set Changes

If you have a slow crew or actors moving scenery try using pollaroids of what each scene is to look like from the position where you post the pictures.

    fabric, lights and fire hazards

I have done kinda the same thing for the opening of Sweeney Todd. I made a wooden batten and attached oversized squeeze clamps (cothes pin type thingy) about 1 every foot. Any light weight muslin wil do. Technically you should apply fire retardant on all scenery. Rosco sells it and you can...

    Lee or Rosco

If you like Rosco you should try Apollo. The colors match, it's cheaper, and you can order sheets pre-cut. http://internetapollo.com/products/prodDetail.aspx?apID=8&p_class=Filters

    Technicians gifts

I don't know the whole set up, but I think you get what I'm trying to say. A card and a picture is great. Maybe there is some kind of inside joke or funny story. I once got two stage pin connectors that were melted together, mounted them to aplack and gave it as an outstanding intern award...

    Technicians gifts

Actually that kind of shirt would mean more because it is personalized. Adults who help out are doing it for fun and memories not for $25 gift card from radio shack. It doesn't have to be a shirt, but a personal thank you will be remembered much longer than a generic thanks. Don't forget to...

    Technicians gifts

as an older type person who has helped local high schools put on shows, I always enjoyed the show t-shirt, and something directly related to the show. It makes us feel like we're aprt of the crew instead of "the old guy". Gift cards are ok, but aren't the personalized thank you that means a...
