    Drywall or Depleted Uranium

best noise reduction is from homosote, he is full of it.Drywall is used for fire rating on homes and that alone.I think homosote is fire rated as well.Dry wall is heavy, annoying, and fragile.why not just waste money and cover the whole thing in MDF.

Need to build a Laugh-In like wall, as a set

he he he the figure it horribly out of scale for 10 foot walls. That or the figure is meant to be 5 foot even.Nah this is about what I had envisioned in my mind's eye.The wall is no trivial task even for the most skilled builder. Everything must be very tight and stationary or the revolving...

Need to build a Laugh-In like wall, as a set

well this is turning into quite the pickle. A free standing 12 or 16 foot structure that has to have revolving panels and not look silly. Something that actors not only have to use but enter through. Some thing that has to positively latch on rotation. Ok so you will need four ball latches...

Need to build a Laugh-In like wall, as a set

yeah the panels need to be thick enough to hide he collar within the panel to hold the panel up and give it a bearing surface to spin on.They need to be stiff enough o it ill not look cheesy when someone comes through them. They need to fit tight enough on the axis so that they will not...

    air compressor question

your usage on the compressor in itself seems to warrant you going to a nice belt driven unit. The noise savings alone are worth it.What sort of tools are you running off the compressor set up.The second tank will have moisture. As the air cools it will deposit it there. My friend compressor...

    How to make 3D trees

I used the real tree method. I had a bunch of branches. I turned the ends into a dole shape and then put a hole in the truck. Little wood screw and glue and poof trees made to order. My trees were bare. On the ground I made muslin leaves. I dipped the muslin in the paint, squished out the excess...

    Sonotube replacement?

I agree. Router out some circles from ply. Put something to hold them apart, wire then glue and paper, muslin cover, or card board cover. The issue may be though what ever is saved on the tubes is spent on labor to build the tubes. how many columns are needed?

    Metal Saw Advice?

We use a a standard miter saw ( old one) and a carbide Milwaukee metal blade at the welding shop I work at. We also throw is in a worm gear driven hand saw. The blades are 65 a pop though. They sell a cheaper saw blade for them but they do not seem to hold up at all. The blades make cuts that...

The ultimate stock flats food for thought

any plywood on any flat I have seen has failed spectacularly. Granted it was cdx 3/4 pine ply. I have had no luck with it. Any clue to what they do differently with it.1x3 i have found is not rigid enough. 1x4 makes a much heftier flat. Its like those who use 5 quarter for platforms instead of...
