    Opinions About the Yamaha M7CL

I cannot praise the M7CL anymore! I have worked with it on 2 shows, not to mention a good friend of mine is the president of Hollywood Sound, the premier distributor of the M7 in SoCal. The CentraLogic technology (making the task of a managing a digital console more logical) and the seperate user...

How about this? http://www.starmgc.com/scan.html That should do it.

    Hang & Focus

I would try to relate somehow to the actual DESIGN of a light's usage. For instance, use a basic example like "we need a light to look like its coming through a window, so we hang it *here* and focus it like *this*" I would find that to be interesting if I were a student.

Hey, I thought we could share pictures of our shows...

Re: Hey i thought we could share pic of our showsNah, the entire show is a scripted "play within a play" so its really been a great experience being with this show for so long.

    Light Plot Software

Definitely shoot for Vectorworks. It does have a steep learning curve, but gosh dang is it a powerful program.

Re: Hey i thought we could share pic of our showsHere is my most recent show. It was an educational Shakespeare sampler that ran for a week here at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA. http://web.mac.com/ldsfx/iWeb/C052D4E3-BA5E-4C83-8075-652DD8C37FA8/Shakespearience!.html If you click on...

    Review - Smartfade 2496

I used it for a small gig where I was running CXI color scrollers. The "next" button worked great cuz it allowed me to set my next color and execute a timed fade without being super sensitive on the faders and without paying top dollar for a memory console.

    Martin Atomic Strobe 3000

I have only used Dataflash AF1000's, but they are very similar to the Atomics. Yes, they are really bright and work very well. Watch out for the heat/lamp timeout.

    Moving scenery for changes

In general, scenic automation is only available to the very high end broadway-quality shows. Some shows (such as Mama Mia and WICKED) feature over a dozens axes of scenic automation which are all controlled by a massive data network from Scenic Technologies (the premier automation expert of...

What do u think about Mac 550 profiles

Well theres no CMY mixing, which kinda sucks, but depending on your venue it may not matter. If you have the budget, I would go with the new Mac 700s. They have CMY color mixing and a 700w source. Both units do feature a butt load of optics and gobos, so it really depends on color and output.

    Pan and Tilt Trim

The issue isnt seeing the light shining inside of the AP, its the fact that during a boot-up, the light could physically swing around and knock itself into the tight structure of the building multiple times. After some research, I have found that AutoYokes have a built-in trim, maybe these with...

    Pan and Tilt Trim

Does anyone know of an intelligent light out there that as a built in pan and tilt trim? I realize that I can program that as a function of the light board, but I am looking at putting some moving lights in an AP that has spacial limitations, and most moving lights go through a boot-up cycle in...

    Alternative to A Hazer

Well if you really dont want to have haze in the air, then the best advice I can give is to use a brighter light. A higher intensity source will catch more dust particles in the air and therefore be more visible.I would recommend an HMI Source 4 or Fresnel with a douser. Find a good spot to...

    Lithopaterns In WICKED

My best source would be Apollo or Rosco, but if you cant find the exact right thing, then they very well could have been custom made. I know that the "gears" and "fall leaves" were custom made, so Posner may have also custom-made the crushed dichroics. I am a fan of the Rosco dichroics, I...
