Running a box fan off of stagepin

Maybe you'll get lucky and find a dmx controllable fan used. New they're $$$ and if you're using a box fan I'm assuming money is an issue.

    Powercon prices?

I'm seeing powercon on a lot of non-theatrical, non-concert type fixtures. LED panels, video panels, smaller movers that draw under 100 watts (and fixtures over that as well). But tons of fixtures that have very low power requirements are being clustered for eye candy. But as I consider buying...

    Powercon prices?

What??? Things cost money to build? People want to get paid? I thought they were all theatre volunteers and elves.

    Powercon prices?

Poking around the interwebz and I saw some powercon to edison cords for upwards of $2.00 a foot. That seems outrageous to me.a. Are they really that expensive since the blue connector is available for less than $5.00 by itself?b. Is it that difficult to take a female edison plug off and...

Who the heck made these fixtures? quest

Side note, Grand Stage has merged with Chicago Spotlight. It is still called Grand Stage Lighting. They moved out of 630 W Lake, because that building is being returned to a historic use (it was the tavern that some of the Haymarket Riot participants hid in). Grand Stage has a small store on...

    Colorstrip and Martin Light Jockey??

You don't want it in any master/slave type mode. I don't know the fixture, but always it should display a 3 digit number, probably with an A in front, which will indicate address #___. DMX could have an issue anywhere in the chain. Best would be to run direct from the dongle to the fist...

Raising and Lowering Sharkstooth Gauze without Fly Space?

The austrian doesn't have to be as full as shown, and most of that will disappear when things are projected onto it, especially front projection. Traveller is better, but may not be as cost effective.

Raising and Lowering Sharkstooth Gauze without Fly Space?

Can you do an Austrian pull (not sure about the terminology) where a pull rope is attached to the bottom and sewn into grommets or something throughout? Sorry this isn't the clearest description.

    DIY Truss Sleeve?

I like Tendo, but I'm told the best way to sew it is with an "overlock" machine (yeah, I don't know what it is either). I think they're also called serger machines. If someone you know has one they likely know how to use it. But I'm guessing by the time you learn/find someone who can sew them...

    Syncronized motor control options

If you find yourself cross-renting to others I would factor in what they have, and make it as close to compatible with their equipment. Your stuff becomes more rentable and their stuff becomes easier to integrate with yours. While I don't use motors any longer, most of the people around here...

    80's disco style/vintage effect looks

Exactly the kind of stuff I had from my days as a club dj in the 1980's. I can duplicate a lot of those looks with equipment I already have, which is what I really need to do. Thanks.Disco was never dead. It just went back to when it was fun, when it was underground.

    80's disco style/vintage effect looks

Looking for some vintage-y disco effects. Ideally:1. low power consumption so LED is ideal 2. Smaller. This is for a party in a space about the size of a house, so it doesn't need to be stadium bright. 3. Doesn't need to actually be vintage, just output an 1980's look 4. Preferably rentable in...

    lighting a jazz concert

There's a story floating around about B.B. King or some other blues or jazz great. The LD asked him what he wanted for lighting and the response was "lwash light on the band, put a spot on me, then go to lunch."
