Automated Fixtures Martin MAC 700 Lamp Behavior

I don't think the 700s have lamp explosion detection (the 2000s did), but I'd definitely start at a cleaning and inspection of fans. I haven't met a Mac 700 in the last three or four years that didn't have a couple of lamp fans that were outright dead or one foot in the grave. There's not a lot...

    208V Dimmer

I don't think there's a 'safe method' to wire up two 120v lamps in series to run on a 208v dimmer (which would just get you probably-disappointingly dim lamps). For OP - You've got a very weird dimmer pack, but as others have said, you won't be able to use 120v lamps on a 208v service.

Source 4 Bench Focus loosener 1.0

Sometimes the outer ring on the bench focus controls of a Source 4 gets pretty stuck. This tool allows you to get more leverage to loosen them, but is designed so that it cannot tighten the knob.

    TrueOne cable boot wrench 1.0

Pretty simple. This just conforms to the profile of the boot of a Neutrik TrueOne connector, helping you to tighten it. Neutrik sells a tool for this, but if you've got a printer, you can have one now.

Source Four Focus Knob Socket 1.0

This device can be chucked into a normal 3/8" chuck allowing rapid removal and (low-torque!) installation of Source Four barrel knobs. The 3D printed shaft acts as an intentional torque limiter - print at normal wall and infill settings and the shaft will break off if you forget to turn the...

Hey ETC, Don't kick us when we are down

They'll continue to support your hardware as long as they're able. You missed the window for a well-announced upgrade to continue running the latest software - it sucks that it happened because of the pandemic, but ETC did extend the window for upgrades in response to the pandemic, I can't...

    Thoughts About a Job Title

Senior lighting technician? I don't know if that has a supervisory implication. "Lead" definitely does have the supervisory sound to it. I think some orgs solve this with a '1' or '2' after the title.

Chauvet LED Followspot 120ST - Thoughts?

I dug through historical tickets - you're right in that it's not the Chauvet 120ST - it's an older ADJ 60 watt unit. I suspect the newer Chauvet spot is probably better all around. They do share a lot of similarities, though - they're both small, inexpensive LED follow spots with a color wheel...

Chauvet LED Followspot 120ST - Thoughts?

I repaired one of these, or something very similar, once. I only fired it up in the shop, but it was definitely in the "well, that's a follow spot" category. It was a while ago so I don't have a good guess at how well it would do in a real space competing with stage lights. I only took one...

    VL 2500 Lamp Issue

The thermostat at the lamp housing is hiding down inside the head. Here's a couple of photos that illustrate the location. There's a thermal sensor stuck to the color/gobo module somewhere, too. There's also a microswitch that acts like a cutout inside the lamp door assembly that's only...

    Chauvet Slim par pro

If you've performed methodical troubleshooting and determined that the fixtures are indeed totally unresponsive to DMX, then moving forward your options are to replace parts.Methodical troubleshooting, in this case, means pulling the fixtures down and, using a known-good DMX cable, plugging...
