    Side Light Trees

I'm looking for some opinions.I'm researching purchasing the Global Truss Quick Grid system to use for side lighting positions. This would replace the traditional weighted bases using threaded schedule 40. I discovered these when I was filling in for a TD at another venue, and it was a good...

    What console is this?

Thank you everyone for your great input. I agree that this was a custom build console. I have a rep coming in to look at the setup next week. I am fairly certain that this is actually analogue and then the replacement should be simple with a a-d converter. (I hope)

20160829_174724 by Luke Holliger posted Aug 29, 2016 at 5:53 PMDoes anyone know what console this is? I know it is a Colortran, but that is the most information I can get from it. This is my house lighting control system and it finally tanked today. I am searching for solutions to get me through...

What paint do you use on your stage floor?

To add to this conversation: I am currently in the processing of testing paint products vs hardboard in my venue. We just finished a full replace of all our old Masonite surface and I am working hard to ensure that the paint is right. I have scrap cuts left over from the install and each has a...

Rosco Tough Prime vs Kilz etc...

I just got off the phone with one of my reps and learned that apparently Roscoe has reformulated their Tough Prime paint. It sounds like theatres that are using it on Masonite decks are seeing issues with it not sticking to new surfaces and peeling off in sheets. Since my venue will be...

    Chemical Snow Machines

This is a traditional effect that we use for our yearly Nutcracker. We have 4 Little Blizzard machines that run the quick dissipating fluid. We also hang a box fan above each one to help push the snow the desired direction. The fans are controlled through our dimmer rack so it can be triggered...

    Pea souper

Any time you use dry ice fog on stage you will run the risk of getting condensation on the floor. That is inherent. Your best solution is to minimize the pooling of water that will happen at the source. Plastic dryer hose that you can find at any hardware store would/should fit onto the unit and...

    Plug Meltdown

Here is a reason why you should regularly inspect all cables and plugs. This was connected to a quad cell cyc light that was part of our house plot, and therefore is never moved. My best guess is that the connection slipped out and grounded to the housing screws. We are fortunate that this was...
