I was playing around a bit yesterday with the record buttons and I was able to get pretty much everything that I wanted to set up. Thanks for all the help everyone.
re: ETC Unison "Idiot Box" ProgrammingGreat, thank you. I'll give that a try tomorrow. So the presets on the rack are the same as the presets on the boxes? Also, I have sliders on mine. Are these programmable through the rack also or do I need to use the design software that ETC has and...
re: ETC Unison "Idiot Box" ProgrammingOkay, so according to the ETC site I have Unison Heritage Button and Fader stations. Now I'm trying to deduce how exactly they can be programmed.
re: ETC Unison "Idiot Box" ProgrammingI was about to say, our dimmer racks are ETC Sensor+ (stage lights) and ETC Unison (house lights) and those pictures you posted are exactly the boxes we have.
re: ETC Unison "Idiot Box" ProgrammingI'll take a picture tomorrow and post it. I'll also try to see if there are any identifiable markings on them that I have missed.

Re: Fixtures?Open that file (although you should probably use Imperial, unless you are outside the US) and inside should be a folder called striplights, or something to that effect. What model borderlights do you have? I can find the directory and post it for you.
Are you sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements? VW is a pretty hefty program. If it does and it still doesn't work, try restarting your computer. If that fails, uninstall and reinstall the program.
I wouldn't go through the network. I would hook up to the ethernet port in the booth, then find that port on the distributor and unpatch it from the network. Basically just using the port's wire, not the network.
Second to Toshiba. I haven't had much experience with Sony, so can't speak to it. If you are willing to push a little past that price range, the new Lenovo ThinkPads are amazing (formerly IBM ThinkPad).
Your concern about "pushing it too close" is somewhat irrelevant. ETC Sensor units are rated to run at capacity (2400W). You won't experience a breaker flip as long as you stay within (inclusive) the 0-2400W range.
