help with replacing smartfade controller for basic system

Plenty of used Smartfades on eBay. You could also look for a used Lightronics TL4016; 32 channels with 16 scenes. Make sure it has the DMX out.

    Drops in unique spaces...

Here is what I meant by a curved cyc. If a curved top pipe is made to fit the horizontal curve of the inside of the arch space, it could be hung at whatever height you anticipate the drop to be. Doesn't really have to be pipe as conduit could also work by hanging at more points or even with...

    Drops in unique spaces...

Unless I am totally not understanding the issue, why wouldn't you simply hang a U or C shaped pipe in there at the desired height? Just like what there would be for a curved cyc on a proscenium stage. Then you just use the tie lines on the drop per normal practice. Not sure why velcro or gaff...

Best Diffusion for Elation Sixpar 300

Found the formula mentioned above and great article by Mike Wood in Fall 2012 ESTA Protocol magazine: https://edition.pagesuite-professional.co.uk/html5/reader/production/default.aspx?pubname=&edid=85e61c67-88b9-4ba4-bc79-43002cb7f0b3 Basically, take the fixture's current spread, say 15º and a...

Best Diffusion for Elation Sixpar 300

Rosco has the 40º/60º reversible. You can double up or use the Rosco/Elation products in different combinations to achieve more spread (at some expense of intensity of course). However, contrary to Elation's claim that a 25º plus a 25º= 50º spread, there is a formula that I can't put my hands on...

Control/Dimming Old Lighting Control System What are they

I concur that it is definitely TTI (Theatre Techniques Inc) pack with eighteen single 2400 watt dimmer modules. Each set of six controlled by a control card. Very probably 0-10vdc control voltage which are on the Cinch-Jones 10-pin plugs. Pins 1 thru 6 are positive for dimmers 1-6 with pin 8...

Best Diffusion for Elation Sixpar 300

Don't use diffusion gel..... use Rosco Opti-Sculpt. It has much less intensity loss and certain ones can even give you an oval beam spread. https://us.rosco.com/en/product/opti-sculpt A bit expensive but worth it. For the cheap solution, use wax paper (in your neighborhood grocery aisle).

How to turn a $20 PAR into a $300 PAR

I agree completely. See this thread https://www.controlbooth.com/threads/led-equivalent.47624/#post-421533 where it was discussed at length. Cost was about $170 I was told.

How to turn a $20 PAR into a $300 PAR

Lot of churches have PAR56 and PAR64 fixtures on dimmers. If you can't run DMX cabling or wireless DMX, then mains dimmable LED's are a reasonable solution since the incandescent PAR lamps have pretty much gone away. I've been quoted $349 for the OnSite LED. Here is a bit newer unit...

Nice video @Rob . The industrial design of the Pathport node is mentioned several times, but not who did it. Care to share?
