    Long term DMX program

I would recommend downloading Cueserver Studio and creating a test file. Interactive recently released a free service to reserve a private Cueserver that you can run a show file on. Once you create your show file in Cueserver Studio you can connect to their remote Cueserver and test the program...

    Long term DMX program

I would also highly recommend Interactive Technologies CueServer. Your override scenario can be accomplished a few different ways. I’d probably have the override input update a variable that the time clock event would check before triggering the sunrise/sunset presets. The user inputs can be...

    Camera For Theater

Blackmagic has a 4 input SDI multiviewer. As far as multiviewers go it’s a pretty reasonable at sub $200.Blackmagic Multiviewer

    Camera For Theater

Lately I have had good luck with Marshall's line of compact cameras. We almost always run SDI from the camera back to a rack where it gets further distributed around the building. Most new installs we encode the camera feed onto the network for distribution, but we have also distributed with SDI...

    Shaft Collar Question

This is a taper-lock sprocket. The part that touches the shaft is a taper-lock bushing. Tightening the set screws pulls the bushing into the tapered sprocket or hub causing it to grab the shaft and shaft key. There’s a third tapped hole on the bushing for removal. You can buy just the hub...

Software for booking your gear and freelancers

We looked heavily at http://www.dbworks.com/products/RentalWorks and https://www.current-rms.com/ before choosing Flex. We have been using it close to three years now. At the time Current RMS was missing some functionality that we needed, Not sure if that's still the case. At the end, it came...

Line Laser that finds 90 degrees

https://www.boschtools.com/us/en/boschtools-ocs/line-lasers-gcl-25-123123-p/It’s not automatic, but you could place something like the laser above on your CS mark and then line the side lasers up with your proscenium. Then the cross laser would draw a line US to DS perpendicular to your opening.

    Bids, Estimates, and Accounting Software

Have you taken a look at Quote Werks? Currently we are using Quickbooks, Excel, and our rental management software. I do keep looking at Quote Werks as it looks like it would be a good solution for keeping everything organized and speeding up the quoting process. It does seem more tailored to...

Projections for Show is this idea possible? How?

If I were to approach this I would use one Mac Mini running Qlab, and Ableton, This could have two displays. I would then use the other Mac Mini running qlab for the video. A TripleHead2Go can be used if you need additional outputs. This can be triggered over a network from the 1st Mac.

    Saw Blades

+1 for Freud. They are easy to find and have a good price to performance ratio. If the saws see a ton of use I'd consider stepping up to a Forrest and finding a good local sharpening service.

High School Directors: How many paid adult (18+) positions do you employ?

I TD 3 shows a year for a local public high school. For the last musical the paid stipend positions included: Director, Music Director, Choreographer, Costume Designer, Pit Director, Tech Director, and a Assistant Tech Director. In addition we contracted in a Lighting Designer, Master...

What's your favorite wifi router for shows?

We too also have a few Airport Express we send out, mostly because of their nice form factor. Anything more involved than a quick show gets a Engeious access point, which has a internal DHCP server. I am not sure I've ever needed a router functionality in a show situation.

    Opinion: Surface Pro vs Macbook

I own both a Surface Pro 4 and MacBook Pro running windows 7 alongside OSX. As time went on, and as I started doing more field service work I found myself in Windows more than OSX. When it came time to get a new machine I decided to give the Surface a try. I bought the i7 right at launch. There...

    Source 4 Followspot Dimmer

On the S4 followspots I put together I use a Lex product called the slim dimmer plus. It will do 1,800W, has a decent sized fader, and the option for DMX control. There is also a 1/4-20 mounting point on the backside of the unit, the city theatrical yokes have a ~1/4" hole on the side that puts...

    Large clock kit

It looks like there is a few companies around that manufacture movements for clock towers. At a quick glance it looks like these would drive an adequately sized minute and hour hand for a 6' face and be powered by 120vac.https://norkro.com/products/glo-dial-clock-movement-manual-reset-short-shaft
