    Candy Questions in tech

I voted green. Should I post why I think so, or maybe not, so it won't influence other people's votes? And of course, like a fool I voted without fully reading the question  which I just now really noticed. I thought we were voting for which has lower temperature, so I wish now I...

    College!!!

Hi, This message is for Dave, really. I know SachemStageCrew originally asked about stage managing specifically, but it holds essential information for high school students in general wanting to pursue tech theater in college. Can this conversation get moved to a more prominent place? Maybe...

    College!!!

This is a related question, but slightly off topic. If someone is doing college, part ti me, what classes do you suggest taking first? The physics/math type, or the design/shop type? Thanks.

Gel Colors (Colour) theory with lights.

What a great question! But difficult to answer, as ship mentioned. I haven't designed the lighting scheme for a show, yet, but we always hhad a mix of warm and cool in all areas.

    Home use of Stage Lekos

Sounds like a great project. Even if it doesn't work out, you learn interesting bits of info alond the way. If you do decide to move forward with this, will you post some pictures so we may see the finished result?

    books to get

Yes, I'm in Israel. I totally know what you mean about not lending books. I will scout out some used bookstores and see what I find. In regular bookstores it is basically three mysteries and two romance novels. Not exactly a selection. I didn't even think about old books being valuable...

    How a show is teched

Well, that is one chunk full of information. It all sounds a bit complicated, in terms of union, non-union, who works on what part of whose contract, what equipment comes from where, who is in charge of it, and what else can that person do. Is it the job of the production manager to keep in...

    books to get

That's a very informative link. Thanks. And I do need to get the Backstage Handbook, and many other books- my wish list is expanding- but English language books are thin on the ground where I am right now. I need to order everything online, and I don't have so much money, so whatever is not an...

    How a show is teched

Once again, thank you for the detailed descriptions. It’s nice to know that space for newbies to learn is built into the system. And I do tend to jump the chain of command, so I’ll have to watch for that in future. From what you describe, I can see how essential preplanning is. I never...

Hi all, I'm at a bit of a crossroad...

I think that inspiration to work through something complex comes more easily (for me at least, but I think for many people) when we see a direct connection between theory and practice. That understanding on the part of teachers can make classes such as math, where many students let’s face it are...

    How a show is teched

Re: A few ideasThank you so much for your detailed reply, wolf. It makes it easier when I can envision it, as opposed to something hazy in the future. It sounds like you can make a show on just the setup itself. A big ensemble production with different dance numbers weaving in and out of...
