yeah i have a presonus firebox - which is the big brother of the inspire. i am very happy with it. if you dont need midi, or spdif i would recommend the presonus inspire, it comes with a cubase le as well which is a good sequencer/audio recording program.

are you using a dmx terminator on the last pack in the series? some dimmer packs wont work properly without them, and some go funny if you start using one - so try using a dmx terminator if you're not currently, or try taking the terminator out if you are using one. hope this helps

i would imagine using a lot of colour correction (chris james/lee 201) to give a very cold and white feel. contrast this with a lot of dark shadows and you will get your prison scene

yeah we use vectorworks, its really great for lx plans, dimmer schedules, etc. the visualisations pretty limited tho- as you cant just place a fixture on the plan and then see what it looks like in a 3d model. you have to create the 3d environment and then place a generic spotlight where you...

im not familiar with the fixtures you've mentioned, but for the best gobo projection you want a condensor fixture, this has an extra lens (giving you three lenses) which allows you to create a sharper image. i know selecon makes them in a 5-15 degrees - not sure about other beam angles
