    Amplifier buzz

Some boards have a built in talkback mic. Is it possible the talkback was engaged and being sent over the main mix? Other than that, there's no other logical explanation for your problem. As for the guitar problem....I've noticed musicians tend to blame everyone but themselves. I've had...

    soundboard security

Actually, since you've mentioned enclosed cabinets, I do know some people make something that looks more like a desk for pro audio stuff. It has a roll top that you can padlock, and then a cabinet underneath for all your rack gear. I beleive I saw something like this in the Markertek catalog...

    soundboard security

Well how big is this board? If the board is that expensive, odds are it's not light, and neither will the flight case be. Bolting it to the table is a good idea..if you intend on never moving this thing. Otherwise, you're just shooting yourself in the foot. You need to consider just how much...

    Near death experience

ohhhhhhh, well a scissor lift is different. i'm not really sure as to whether or not you're supposed to use fall arrest equipment on a scissor lift, but if you've hung a curtain from one then i guess it works.

yeah...feet gets the meaning across...i just wasn't sure if there was something really called feet that was separate from the outriggers...hehe. when you clip yourself into the lift, how long is the lanyard? cuz if it's not long enough for you to be able to fall out of the basket to begin...

    setting up an amp

I well built roadcase will protect it from the abuse you're worried about. The amp itself is probably tough enough to take the occasional bottle of windex falling on it....but not IN it...that's another story. If you pack it up in a decent quality rack (like SKB, or even make your own flight...

i thought genie lifts aren't supposed to be used with fall arrest equipment? that's the same thing as clipping a harness to a scaffolding tower. and i wouldn't be so sure that having the feet out would stop it from tipping. the forces imposed on this thing from a fall can be quite a bit. it also...

    Near death experience

hmm..i'm starting to notice a common trend.....a lot of these injuries are occuring when one person is trying to work alone...since they couldn't get any help. of course i'm not going to lecture anyone and say you shouldn't work alone, haha, i know how hard it is to find someone to actually...

    your lighting pics

i just remembered this topic even existed. and since i am such a publicity whore, i just had to post some of my lighting pics. ok...so these really aren't great since they were taken by dumb fans who don't understand how to take cool concert pics (like, not using the flash). i'm still trying to...

    Techie sayings

Since it's 2 am on a show day I'm not gonna read all 8 pages of this (I only read 5, hehe)..so if anyone has said this saying already...who cares. When I'm ready to start a show I usually go up to the band and say "ok, let's light this bitch up". And when I mix monitors and sound check is...

    dry ice effects

Well thanks for all the advice, and I will certainly keep those ideas in mind if I ever need to do this again, but for the show tomorrow..it's pretty short notice. It was pretty much going to be either dry ice, or nothing. We don't have the available power to run any commercial quality...
