    Done with DeWalt?

I have had great luck with the Ridgid line of cordless tools. What I like best is the lifetime warranty on the tool and batteries that are purchased with tool(s). This is of a tremendous value to me as all batteries will eventually go bad, and Ridgid will replace them no question asked, and...

    Broadcast sound clips over walkies

Could you modify a baby monitor and play the audio through it?

    Projection Questions

Depending on which MBP you have, it could possibly drive multiple monitors/projectors out of the box with the correct adapters. For example my late 2013 MBP with dedicated GFX card will drive three screens no problem. (1 HDMI, and two via Thunderbolt adapters.) I'm not sure if QLab or Isadora...

Sending mic signal to two different rooms

Does the venue have built in sound? Most I've been in have inputs all around the rooms that can then be patched via a control room from one room to the other. This would be what I tried before going wireless. The second option would be to run a cable along the wall to the other room and hook up...

Communication with Sound 2 during live mix performances

You are correct. We had another thread about the various VOIP type of communications a while back.I would not recommend Skype as there is often too much delay. Mumble, Teamspeak, etc generally have much less delay. Especially if you host your own server on site. Note when I say server I just...

Communication with Sound 2 during live mix performances

We run a closed network and Mumble just as you describe. I like it because it keeps folks focused as the only app that will work is Mumble and it supports text and voice. Note Mumble needs a server, but I've run it on an old laptop and a router in the sound booth for Wifi and the coverage was...

    PPT computer for large corporate

An image is probably the easiest way to ensure they are the same. If you have a large scale deployment of Windows boxes you may already have software otherwise set one up and then clone it.One thing to keep in mind is to make sure your backup is turned on frequently. I cannot tell you how...

    Buying a Macbook Pro

I know you already purchased but something to take into account is the retina screen. Those are going to require a bit of power from the onboard video card. For that reason if someone intends to buy a MBP with Retina and output HD video I'd strongly consider the model with the discreet card...

    Bag for a Tech Kit

I've been eyeing these cases at the local Home Depot. Multiple sizes, stackable with the larger case being a dolly, not a bad price and a lifetime warranty. They frequently go on sale.Link - http://www.homedepot.com/b/Tools-Hardware-Tool-Storage-Portable-Tool-Boxes/RIDGID/N-5yc1vZc22aZ18g

    Video Streaming

How far does the signal need to travel, wired or wireless and what is your budget? Assuming you are just talking about a static single camera shot wired and less than 300 feet you could do it pretty cheap with some ethernet baluns. But more info would allow us to offer more detailed solutions.

    Qlab - Projector 'Blackout'?

Personally I would do all of the above. I typically set my extended desktop to a black menu less back ground incase qlab or powerpoint crashes it still goes black. (I also set my projector to a black 'no input' screen vs. the typical blue.)

Replacing or Repairing a Mitsubishi Projector

Ethernet typically provides you with the ability to remotely control the device (power on/off, send display images, check hours, and and other information depending on the model.) I like to network permentally installed projectors so I don't have to futz with the remote to get bulb life and...

Replacing or Repairing a Mitsubishi Projector

The only problem with Ethernet or anything with blauns is if the projectors are difficult to get to that may pose a problem should an issue occur. If it were me I would get a projector with HD-SDI input, then run Ethernet for remote control of the device, VGA for back-up connection, and HD-SDI...

Replacing or Repairing a Mitsubishi Projector

Mitsubishi has a history of manufacturing projectors with faulty mother boards. Not saying that is your issue, but I've run into a number of Mitsubishi projectors with those issues.I would look at upgradeing, but I wouldn't pull hdmi. I'd go with HD-SDI, or Ethernet or fiber with blauns. Some...
