I'm a high school student and I was wondering how do you choose a gel to use in a production? I have a Roscolux swatchbook. I get how you think of the scene and the mood / feelings that you want to get across. If I want "anger", I want a red, but how do I choose which one?

Also, does anyone have any tips for hanging on a vertical bar? I've hung lights on a horizontal, but never vertical.

So I picked up lights today. Got 4 Source 4 19 degrees, and 4 26 degrees. Also got a Leprecon 612 light board. We are going to be hanging them tomorrow!

So finally some good news!!I talked to a guy who has worked with us and in the space before. He said there should be a DMX to analog adapter and went I went to find it, it was there!! This means we will be able to rent a light board for the play.

I'm confident about soldering the cable, but it's hard to find the connector. There are bunch on eBay but a lot are across the country.

Judging by the dust, the light board has not been used in a looooong time. I think events bring in their own dimmers and boards and if they use the existing dimmers they just have them on or off, not using the board.

So the area that we need to light is about 30' by 20'. I was thinking about using 8 26 degree Source 4 for this. I would have 3 zones each with two lights and another 2 lights in case there are dark spots or places that need to be highlighted more.One issue I just found is I can't find any...
