    Choosing a Gel

I'm a high school student and I was wondering how do you choose a gel to use in a production? I have a Roscolux swatchbook. I get how you think of the scene and the mood / feelings that you want to get across. If I want "anger", I want a red, but how do I choose which one?

    Renting Lights

Also, does anyone have any tips for hanging on a vertical bar? I've hung lights on a horizontal, but never vertical.

    Renting Lights

So I picked up lights today. Got 4 Source 4 19 degrees, and 4 26 degrees. Also got a Leprecon 612 light board. We are going to be hanging them tomorrow!

    Renting Lights

So finally some good news!!I talked to a guy who has worked with us and in the space before. He said there should be a DMX to analog adapter and went I went to find it, it was there!! This means we will be able to rent a light board for the play.

I'm confident about soldering the cable, but it's hard to find the connector. There are bunch on eBay but a lot are across the country.

Judging by the dust, the light board has not been used in a looooong time. I think events bring in their own dimmers and boards and if they use the existing dimmers they just have them on or off, not using the board.

So the area that we need to light is about 30' by 20'. I was thinking about using 8 26 degree Source 4 for this. I would have 3 zones each with two lights and another 2 lights in case there are dark spots or places that need to be highlighted more. One issue I just found is I can't find any...

    Renting Lights

The space has 2 LD-2400 dimmers and a LP-255 light board. Both are 0-10V. When I went to the space, I didn't see the cables for it, but they probably are around it. The system there only has two rows of strip lights over the stage. They have no other lights. The setup is really basic and just...

    Renting Lights

Wow. Thanks. Lots of great information. I'll definitely try to make a scale drawing and use that to figure out the beam angle. Our budget isn't set, but around or under $500 is probably the max. The company we are renting from has Source 4 for $14 a week.Sorry I wasn't clear about where the...

    Figuring Out New Sound Board

I don't think we have any even in the district as I've worked events at other facilities and it has always been a music teacher who has shown me how their equipment works. I know our town's DPW has occasionally come into our old high school auditorium to replace lights so they might have someone...

    Renting Lights

So due to our high school's auditorium not being done, our fall play has to be done in our Town Hall... I looked at their tech equipment and they have two LD-2400 dimmer racks and a LP-255 light board. These are both a 0-10V analog system... For lights they only have two rows of strip lights...

    Figuring Out New Sound Board

Wow, didn't think about any of that.... To the best of my knowledge, its a counterweight system. I'm going to look into whether they are going to hire a full time employee. Our tech department has always been very student run and with a new auditorium it is a good idea to have a responsible...

    Figuring Out New Sound Board

Wow. Didn't even think about that..... To the best of my knowledge (as a student) I don't think they are hiring anyone. Currently the Tech Crew's advisor was hired as a math teacher who also has to be the adviser for tech crew... So we don't have any full time staff for it....

    Figuring Out New Sound Board

Thank you, the guy I was talking to wasn't totally sure of exactly the model but vaguely remembered some of the specs. It's been very frustrating as it was supposed to open in September, then out off until October 23, then November 2, then December, and now we are hearing January...We got...

    Figuring Out New Sound Board

So my high school's auditorium is being totally redone. This started in June of 2014 and should be opening somewhere around Thanksgiving to December....I was attending some training today for the AV equipment in the music rooms, and the same people are doing the audio system for our...
