    On a tight budget may I suggest checking out Amazon for Flickering Flameless Candles, Moving Flame, Battery Operated LED Pillar The moving fake flame is pretty convincing.

    The mics should be placed as close as possible to the talent. The tradeoff is their being stepped on or kicked.

    Have had very good results with wireless boundary mics e.g.- Shure MX690.

    Focusing Wash & Specials Outside - during the day

    I have had moderate luck using a high power laser pointer from instrument position to "aim" lights in daylight outdoor venue.
