    Donate Old Industry Magazines

Hello, I'm in the process of some serious purging and would like to know if my collection of industry magazines (Live Design, Lighting & Sound America, and Stage Directions) from roughly 2006-2010 have a life waiting for them beyond the recycling? These could be shipped reasonably cheap...

    School Production Side Lightin

Hi Tim,I don't know what type of house this Berry Theatre is, (Fly or grid?) but often, you will see side light coming from suspended light ladders from the grid. Some theatres also have positions running upstage to downstage to facilitate hanging masking tabs. If there are multiple of these...

    Tracking scenery slippage

I trust this solution worked for your production, but I'd worry that the wire would bind on itself if wrapped twice around the same sheave. YES! I've read that article! I think I will take a stab at that solution. Thank you for the reminder. Nik

    Tracking scenery slippage

Hmm...Interesting. Sounds like an unique solution there. It comforts me to know that you seem to have had no problem with your GAC muling blocks slipping, yes? Do you by chance remember what and/or where you got the block? I'm torn between trying to find the perfect theatrical solution or...

    Tracking scenery slippage

Hello folks, I will have a dilemma. (it hasn't happened yet, but it's inevitable) I'm designing the scenery for "Joseph" and due to the lack of backstage space, there are no rolling units. Instead, we have a track system which cutouts of pyramids, sphinxes, sand dunes...etc will come on and...

How do I hatch instruments in Vectorworks?

It's one of the modes of the "2D polygon" tool in your toolbar.

How do I hatch instruments in Vectorworks?

Don't forget to check out the Polygon lasso tool ("Create polygon from outer boundary" is the technical name) which will save you a lot of time assuming all the lines create a closed figure. Also, try selecting the group of lines and "compose" them from "modify" menu.Nik Robalino

How do I hatch instruments in Vectorworks?

You can take Weebl's advice if the fixture you're trying to hatch is a group not a symbol. Otherwise, you need to make a duplicate symbol of the fixture you want to hatch/gray out and edit the 2D properties of the copied symbol. Remember, if you edit the fixture's symbol, it will change all the...

Students: Win a free ETC console for your School.

Hi Rochem, I come in peace, hehe, really I didn't mean to sound too agressive, but it did bother me that there were claims made about CCM's lighting inventory that made us look more well off than we really are. Yes, I'd agree that there are probably many institutions that have fewer...

Students: Win a free ETC console for your School.

Our most used console is our Obsession II for our main stage shows. We have a hog iPC that occasionally gets used in conjunction with the Obsession II for larger shows with a specific need for more complex moving light programming functions. We also have the Strand 550i for our main stage shows...

Students: Win a free ETC console for your School.

Hi LXPlot, As a current Junior at CCM, I can tell you that we are only renting the GrandMA2 as part of the "Moving Light Programming" curriculum to teach advanced programming methods. As for the "6 strong consoles," we have a large variety due to the amount of shows that are produced in our 3...

    Par Walls How to

How about a 10x10 grid of Source 4s? I put together this project as an entry for ETC's video contest which I think many of the students of the Control Booth should take a look at. It's sort of a shameless plug-in but I really enjoyed this thread. We used an Ion's pixel mapping capability to run...

    Design It just baffles me...

Hey everybody! I have a challenge for everyone: Name me one theatrical production you saw where a design incorporated anti-spill accessories such as egg-crate louvers, concentric rings, or baffled top hats. I am under the sneaking suspicion that these accessories are somehow limited to...
