French (and other European countries) Tech Scene

My fiance and I are considering moving to France next fall, but I'm curious about the work in France. How is the scene there? Is there a Union? How are venue gigs? How radically different is French tech than American tech? Is it easy to freelance? How tight knit is the scene? Anything else...

    ETC Congo and Sequences

We created a master link and loaded it onto a master, but I suppose my question -now- is getting the first step in the sequence to play automatically, without having to press any additional buttons other than "Go".

My concern is that the Prussik is a friction knot, and the paracord doesn't have very much surface area...

What is it? - Old JR Clancy Equipment

I think I know this one. These are called stage braces, and they are used as quick jacks for flats. They have become antique now, and are used for breasting battens and cables and such.

    Education Questions

So I have a couple of questions. I got the opportunity to do a couple of shows in my high school, and it was the only thing that I have ever resonated with. It was fun, I felt like I was at home, and I took very well to the kind of work we were doing. I decided that this is what I want to do...

    Your worst theatre injury

My worst injury without a doubt is when a ten foot tall wall frame that wasn't bolted down to a flat yet fell on me. I just got a little winded, no major injuries but a couple of bruises.

Howdy. I live in a suburb of Portland, called Beaverton. I got into theatre at the beginning of my senior year, doing a combination of lighting, sound and construction for 5 different shows in the one year I've been in theatre and i loved every second of it. I've been reading this forum on and...
