The other option would be, rather than feeding speakers, would be to feed a headphone distribution system - maybe feed two of these (or similar) from the mixer : ART HeadAmp V | Sweetwater.comThat'd give each person headphones (with their own volume) and you'd not have to worry about stray...

    orchestra pit monitors

I guess the answer to this depends whether you have stuff in inventory you can pull out to use for this sort of thing or whether you'd be renting. With stuff I have lying around, I'd probably hang a condenser mic in omni (or maybe two) from the grid above the stage (towards the front) and run...

Well, that's encouraging :) Thanks for the site - I hope we don't have to use it.

    Control/Dimming Colortran Gold Medallion

Hi, all Long time no post (since sometime in 2005. Heh). In the intervening time, we've been rebuilding our theatre (destroyed in a fire in 2002) and we're getting pretty close to opening (first show in July. Scary (since I'm the guy in charge of building)) In any case, we've got a 28...

    A Lighting Cookbook

Hi, all. I did a book review in General that mentioned what I'm looking for, but I thought I'd re-ask in its own thread. I'm looking for a 'cookbook' of lighting ideas - so I get an idea what the conventions and standards are. I'm very much aware that I'll never make fine art when I do...

    Your opinions of Cordless Drill-Drivers

And besides.. it is funny watching tiny little actors trying to use it! :) I have to take my amusement where I can. -OG

    Introducing.. well, Me.

Yeah, I'm a programmer/project manager in the IT department of a medium-sized software company. Over the years, I've been most things, though - DBA, sysadmin, computer tech. -OG

    Your opinions of Cordless Drill-Drivers

Heh. I'm a big guy with big hands and given the usage I do, I really like the 18's. I've never had any problems with weight, even after using it all day, and it can run all day without a recharge, which is nice. And it can handle drilling into cement and masonry without sucking its battery...

    Your opinions of Cordless Drill-Drivers

*grins* /I/ didn't drown my drill. Nor did I use it as a hammer. I just decided that going ballistic on the person that did wasn't worth it. Stress leads to an early grave :) Now.. if they'd chosen to drown my new air compressor or dropped my lovely sliding compound mitre saw or... THOSE I...

    Introducing.. well, Me.

I pretty much do set, some props, some gripping. I've done some lighting and sound stuff now, too. I am slated to TD a show next year and that's what I'm currently focussed on - getting to know enough of everything to manage that. Heh. I was just looking through that FASS site - last year's...

    Introducing.. well, Me.

Kitchener-Waterloo. I do carpentry and other tech for KW Little Theatre. I'm currently also teching for University of Waterloo's FASS production, which is a real hoot. (http://fass.uwaterloo.ca - insane, insane, insane show) -OG

    Your opinions of Cordless Drill-Drivers

I'm coming from a different perspective then most of you (being someone who is 30, works full time (not in theatre) and thus probably has more disposable income) but I honestly can't see getting that attached to a cordless drill. Mine get lent, dropped, used as hammers, drowned, you name it...

    My Big Fat Obnoxious Keychain

On me : Mini-maglite, maglite, leatherman wave (with tool adapter, plus bits). In my job chest/toolbox : 4 inch grinder, circular saw, drill, cordless drill, air compressor, pneumatic nailgun/stapler, manual stapler, hammers, mallet, socket sets, wrench sets, screwdriver sets, extra screws...

    Digital Recorder

The Zoom thingy looks pretty good. Unfortunately, I cannot offer personal opinions on it. Looking at reviews, though, the boss one : http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=home/search/detail/base_id/111754 is higher rated, but has a higher price tag, too. Another option for you :) As far...
