    Headset mic recommendations welcomed

You might try the "Acacia" brand from All Pro Sound in Florida. This is their house brand and I have had pretty good luck in those situations where price is an issue. Pricing is dependent on model. Some have interchangeable cables and for a little less you can get a fixed cable with your choice...

    Homemade Telex Power Supply

The two channel unit probably has two complete 24VDC power supplies in order to have the two signals isolated from each other.

    Transient EtherSound Buzz

One other suggestion is that the source of the offending signal may be some other piece of equipment that only operates some of the time. It could be totally unrelated to your audio system but simply creating a ground loop or coupling the 60 cycle signal into your system.

TS plug in a TRS jack?

In my 60 plus years of audio work I have often used TS plugs on balanced outputs with no obvious difficulty. As has been pointed out before, the balanced outputs are generally floating and not ground referenced. I think that some of the concerns are actually related to using a TS plug in a TRS...

    Newbie from tiny Rhode Island

Welcome from another relatively new member. I just wanted to let you know that I have a lot of respect for EDI as a manufacturer. I have an old old old Scrimmer portable dimmer pack that I got on E-bay a couple of years back and it still works better than many more modern units. I go by their...

One Image/Vid on more than one screen

Another piece of software that allows previewing the program material is Freepath from Grass Roots Software http://www.freepath.com/. The price is $149.00. I have used a matrix switch with driver amps for choosing a single or multiple program sources on a single or multiple displays in a VGA...

    Old Strand Dimmers

I am looking for some dimmers to install in an old Strand Environ 2 system used for architechural lighting in a church. This is a large cabinet system and two of the dimmer packs are the switching type for control of non dimmable flourescents. We are no longer using those units and would like to...

    Funky Chase lights help needed!

For a really cheap chase, I have used 3 or 4 outdoor Christmas light strings as these are usually 25 Ft in length. Just lay the strings together, offset so that the spacing is equal between lamps, and connect them to any of a multitude of chase circuits. This is really cheap and they can be used...

    Watts/Amps from outlet?

If you want to go a step further, the National Electrical Code allows one to load a circuit up to 80% of the circuit rating for a permanently connected load. Although what we do is never really permanent, the reliability of our operation is certainly enhanced by following the 80% rule. The...

    tripping the GFCI

The first thing to remember when dealing with a GFCI device is to understand how it works. Inside the GFCI there is a small transformer that has two equal windings wired with one passing the "Hot" conductor through and the second passing the "Neutral" conductor through. these two windings are...

    Rigging Questions

I just had to throw in my 2 cents worth on the RMT. The present 2005 National Electrical Code uses the designation of RMC for Rigid Metal Conduit. The major difference from water pipe is the specified surface on the inside which is intended to prevent damaging the insulation on the conductors in...

    Hello, from Oregon

I just joined this forum because of all the good information I saw being presented by "ship". If there is that kind of resource available then I want to follow things for my own growth. I did a little bit of theatre and a lot of sound work in High School and have dabbled in lighting (both...
