Just to add to the post, I just pulled an old Magic 260 out of storage after maybe 10 to 15 years of downtime wrapped up in bubble wrap inside a taped up garbage bag. So I decided to give it a go and started it up and the display just lit up very dimly with a single band of square LCD characters...

I can't return it as I'm located in another country. I would think that the heating element itself could fail as I've encountered elements that do no heat up at all in the past. I was wondering if it's possible that the spitting may be caused by the element not reaching maximum temperature.
