Script for a show with no words...

Hey guys, Anyone have any thoughts on how to write a script as the show is being created for a performance with no words (or at least, no words from any real language)? I can probably write the sounds phonetically but noting gestures and dance escapes me... Any advice would be great!

    Calling a show in French?

Recently did a backstage tour of one of Cirque du Soleil's touring shows. Incredible. I have to say those who spoke English as a first language were definitely not the majority, including among the technicians (many of whom had definite French accents). But either way, Cirque's policy is to call...

    Cirque Du Solei Sound

I know some of these articles don't relate entirely to sound, but there is a TON of information on the articles here: http://www.zircondesigns.com/ Especially the KA and LOVE articles. Happy reading, they are loooong!

    Proscenium # Markers

lol, I work in a professional theatre and all the touring companies I have seen that used a number line always did it with white tape. Maybe because they use a new stage every few weeks?

    Fire procedure

I work in a professional theatre that seats 1500 at capacity over three levels (half in orchestra, and a quarter each on lower and upper balcony). There are the usual exits at the back and two fire escapes on each side of the auditiorium on each level (for a total of 12 fire escapes plus the...

Broadway: Cues called or show control?

Hey,Well the touring show of wicked has two spots that they cart around with them, that are operated from hidden booths at the sides of the stage for sidelight. The main spotlights are of course whatever is in the FOH booth for the particular theatre. As for the original question, I can tell...

    FROG Programming

The colors are not supposed to be random. They have specified a color scale to be followed based on the speed from the sensor. Faster = further along the scale.

    FROG Programming

Hi, On the topic of another lighting project I may be working on (have to put together a proposal). The client has an led light fixture that takes 3 channels of DMX direct input, one for Red, Green and Blue respectively. The client wants to connect a sensor to the fixture in such a way...

Stage Revolve (Motor and Power Question)

Thanks a lot Van, the timeframe on this is quiet long anyhow (we're talking finish by June if the project gets the go-ahead)

Stage Revolve (Motor and Power Question)

Ok wow where do I begin! Cutlunch: I've pretty much decided on friction drive. I did think about the cables going up through the center and have decided to do that, with plans to upgrade to a mercotac connector later. Positional information would be done via incremental encoder I think...

Stage Revolve (Motor and Power Question)

Well no one seems to have any input, so I just thought I'd say I've invested in a couple stagecraft books that should arrive soon that will hopefully have some tips!

    I need everyones input...

I work as an usher part time in a professional theatre (were broadway quality shows tour/run). I've seen pretty much a 50/50 split of shows called from the FOH booth and backstage. Of the bigger shows I've seen, it's still about 50/50. And of course either way the SM usually has a TV with...

Stage Revolve (Motor and Power Question)

A great idea FoxinaBox. Extra traction on top for the performers is another thing I never thought of but makes sense.

Stage Revolve (Motor and Power Question)

Hi,This project is in the planning phase, and will most likely be built in increments. We will likely start with just a simple speed controller, but we are designing with the eventual aim of the computer controlled motor. But I will certainly post pictures, and likely a full DIY tutorial since...

Stage Revolve (Motor and Power Question)

Sorry, not sure where this should go. I am building a 16' (diameter) stage revolve. It will consist of floor mounted wheels upon which the platform will ride. There will be a pivot at the center to keep the platform centered, but is not load bearing. The set is built on top of this platform...
