20th Century Fox Search light effect

Mole-Richardson Brute Arc would be a modern equivalent of the WWII era searchlight. Depending on your locale, a Grip and Electric rental might have one or two. Like the searchlight, requires a trailed operator. Alternatively look into a 2 or 5k Xenon cannon.

    Lee High Temp Gel

Consider buying the equivalent in Rosco. It still requires a double gel holder as the heat shield and the color gel must have some physical seteration.

    5/8" studs/ C-stands

C-stands always have a baby pin (5/8"), some of the stands donated must not be C-stands or perhaps some of them are "turtle base" stands and missing the column or riser. Commonly called a TVMP or TeleVision Motion Picture adapter. "Directors chair" is also known as a butt plug.

Anyone know the real name for "horse <rooster>" or "donkey <Richard>"?

Horse**** refers to a stick of 4/0 feeder cable.

Feeder cable gauge question - ground vs. hots & neutral

"I've done it many times without a problem" is not my answer either, nor is doing live tie-ins. Why are unsafe practices observed on some film/video location shoots? Because bad habits/practices are being passed from more senior crew members (who were taught incorrectly or not at all) to those...

Feeder cable gauge question - ground vs. hots & neutral

Cut me a break, the clamp is a Trico (test clamp) and used for temporary tie-ins to "house power" on location. Not used all that often and easier than installing lugs in someone else's panel.

    5 wire, 3 pole, 40-50 amp ?

Locking CS63xx series is the answer for a 120/240 50A single phase 5 wire feeder. Commonly used on spider boxes. Applications: construction sites, convention halls, etc. Made by Marinco, Levitton, Hubbell... Sorry, just noticed three pole requirement. There is CS series that meets that...

    Serious Injury on Spiderman

I can't wait to see the musical adaptation of "The Matrix". Why must "Broadway" try and turn a movie like Spiderman into a stage performance? Collectively, the writer, producer, director, etc., should get a smack in the head.

    Leather Washers

You don't specify where they are used in the fixture. Used as an insulator, leather is slow to transmit heat. Leather and now more recently: fibre; neoprene; other "hard" synthetics, are used to increase/modulate the friction between two rotating metal parts, such as a lamp yoke and body or...

    Conventional Fixtures Platinum PAR Lamps

I'd prefer these: FFR 1000W 120V PAR GE HALOGEN LIGHT BULBS-NIB - eBay (item 270496146137 end time Dec-29-10 21:29:34 PST) over lamps/bubbles/globes made in china.

Vintage Lighting trying again, R&V Scene Machine Question

I can't say for sure, but I thought that they were still in business. I had some of their low voltage beam projectors at one time. If they still around, they might have info on their older equipment.

    Vintage Lighting Old/vintage Mole fixtures

Can comment on current auction price, when I found the listing, the two fixtures were sub $40. No desire to own a 5 light myself, plus the globes are expensive and short lived (at least the daylight ones are). Another seller has/had a Mole conelight for sale, haven't seen too many of those...

    Vintage Lighting Old/vintage Mole fixtures

Maybe these only rate the "old" catregory: Mole Richardson Five Light Mole Fay - RARE! - eBay (item 180594239686 end time Dec-02-10 10:23:20 PST) Five light fay, much less common than the 9 or 12 light versions. Less useful as well, since you can't pan each bank of three bulbs. Might be of...
