    Understanding my electrics

I just began a new job at a different fine arts center. This is the fourth full-time auditorium position I've held, and yet I'm finding things that I've never seen. Such is this work, right? Anyway, the circuits on my raceways have me baffled. Can anyone help me decipher what's going on here...

    Wenger Versalite

Thank you all for your input. I think I'm going to get a quote for replacing with StageRight and give it to the powers that be. Hard to justify replacement parts for a poor design... we'll just be replacing again in a few years if they even have any left at that point.

    Wenger Versalite

Greetings! I'm hoping someone might offer some advice...I recently started a new job as TD at a theatre connected to a school district. They have the Wenger Versalite platforms (portable staging/risers) for band and choir functions. Now I've used these before... but they were never in such...

    DMX error - please help!

Just had an ETC tech out to fix the problem. He did the same thing I had already done (changed the order that we were plugged in to the ports - we use 3 universes) and it worked. Why it didn't work yesterday when I did it, I don't know. But since we were paying for an hour, I was able to ask him...

    Thank you, Steve! :)

    DMX error - please help!

The Net3 is blinking (1,2,3 and 4) to indicate that it's not receiving DMX signal. I've reset the dimmer racks, restarted the board (a couple of times) and reset the Net3 (a couple of times). I'm at a loss. To be truthful, I'm the new TD here and I don't really know why we're using the Net3...

    DMX error - please help!

This is probably something really dumb causing the issue, but could someone please help? We had a rental in our theatre this morning and the LD/ME unplugged the DMX512 from our lightboard to use his board. After the show I plugged it back in and I now have no control. We're running an ETC Ion...

Break-Apart Mast for Comedy of Errors

Thank you everyone! I did a tube inside of a tube sort of arrangement with super strong magnets. The magnets didn't hold though. And the actors broke the mast by the last performance. Yup, they managed to break sonotube. High schoolers are often reckless with their props. *sigh* I appreciate all...

Break-Apart Mast for Comedy of Errors

How would I arrange those so that the actors could pull it apart at the right moment?

Break-Apart Mast for Comedy of Errors

Hello everyone!I'm just hoping to pick a few brains... I need some ideas for a mechanism of such that will hold two pieces of a "ship's mast" together until it needs to break in half. This mast would be horizontal and held by actors (as though they are floating in water after a shipwreck) and...

    Re-painting a drop...

Thank you very much for your help. I believe I will base it and go from there. The more difficult part will be building a frame large enough to staple it to as our shop floor is sealed concrete.

    Re-painting a drop...

Hi there! Frequent lurker, infrequent poster here. ;)Just wondering if anyone could give me some clues as to the best way to go about re-painting (painting over) an old drop. I'm not sure whether or not it has been treated with flame-retardant. How do I begin? Should I just treat it as though...

    Working Fountains are a pain...

Thank you for the ideas, everyone. The pump is adjustable, but the change is scarcely noticeable - the strongest flow is barely any different than the weakest. Regardless, I do have it set on the weakest flow, but perhaps I will try some of these ideas. Foam in the water seems like the easiest...

    Working Fountains are a pain...

... but they look so cool! For our upcoming production, I've put purchased a tiered fountain. It is this one: Walmart.com: Alpine Three Tiered Fountains: Massage & Spa The pump pushes the water up to the top tier and over grooves in the edges. When it fills the second tier, it falls through...

    Where to buy wagon wheels...

Those are exactly what I'm looking for, I was just hoping someone might know where I could find them cheaper. This may be my best option though. Thank you!
