    Disney Lighting Brands

Not long back from WDW Florida Hollywood Studios and noticed MA GrandMa2 and Yamaha on both Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular (3125) and Theater of The Stars (Beauty and The Beast) (3136). Also found the attached (3986) sitting in the Journey into Imagination pavilion in Epcot, which just...

Control/Dimming Vintage Strand Dimmers and Identification

@ThisJustin - Please excuse me if I appear a bit confused, but the first two pics from your original post are obviously very different from the second two. Are you suggesting that they both come from the same desk? The first two would appear to be from a Strand JP (Junior Preset) series desk...

    Strand Iris 4

Strand Quartzcolor got sold to Cosmolight in Italy back in 2012 and they still manufacture the Iris cyc units. I can't see a US distributor on their website but you could ask the question at [email protected]

Need assistance with a strand preset panel

Strand produced the same outstations with differing software - Premiere and Outlook. Outlook was designed to talk directly to dimmers such as CD80SV, such that some of your dimmer circuits could be used for house-lighting and others for ordinary theatre fixtures. Attached is the datasheet...

What is the term for this lighting effect?

Didn't there used to be a website dedicated to just this effect? - http://www.ballyhoomatic.com Sadly, it disappeared some time ago, but I'd love to see it come back, or does someone have the content stored somewhere?

    Anne Valentino--"A Career in Control"

@STEVETERRY - many thanks for organising this, it was a real insight into how consoles are developed, and why the way some things are. I was also interested to see that no one was afraid to tell it how it was, warts and all ! I was saddened though to hear Anne say that her biggest regret was...

Anyone ever built a Socapex tester ?

If only I'd seen the original post back in July, as I sold a GDS Mobal Tester on EBay about a month ago. Nice unit with LCD display and internal battery. Went for $60. (probably worth about $260)

    Electrical distribution along lighting grid

Any new theatre, conference centre, or music venue being built in the UK today would probably have a number of company switches in the wings or back stage with multiple 3ph. outlets of various sizes. So you wouldn't have the same problem today.

    Electrical distribution along lighting grid

Coming from the other side of the pond, I appreciate that we wlll do things differently, as we have more volts to play with than yourselves. However, I'm wondering how common it is for power feeds (and DMX for that matter) to be fed down the inside of the pipe to connect with outlets spaced...

Join us for a making-of-history lighting control discussion

Well, that was amazing. Thank you so much for organizing that and managing to get those two greats in the same space at the same time, sharing such insights and nuggets. I don't know if Dave C would be prepared to come back and discuss luminaire development on a future 'show'. There was a...

    Your first Memory Lighting Console

First manual board - Strand Junior 8 (great for making toast). First memory board - Kliegl Performer II, with cassette tape show storage. We used it on a historical pageant at Horse Guards Parade in the centre of London and ran a SMPTE time code to control the narration timing with the effects.

Trying to find side bars with supporting arms

You could look at this - http://www.doughty-usa.com/cgi-bin/trolleyed_public.cgi?action=showprod_T57326. It might save you some money as you can fit your own length of pipe?
