    Automated Fixtures MLC-16 floppy drive

I have an NSI MLC-16 board that I use occasionally, and have been loading the fixture profiles with PC to serial connection. I purchased a floppy drive, and have the power and floppy cable, but was just wondering if anyone has done this type of install before without purchasing the kit from...

Conventional Fixtures Source Four Jr. Opinions?

I started out in theatre and touring over 30 years ago, and was raised on Altmans. I met some of the Altman family many years ago, and felt they had a good product, and the family ran a good company. I agree that there could be a lot of bickering over fixtures and their mfgs, it all boils down...

Conventional Fixtures Source Four Jr. Opinions?

stick with altman...i hate the source 4 jr......shutters always jam, etc. the 360q is a lot better fixture, and you may be able to get one or two more instruments than you could for the cost of the source 4 units. just my opinion though.

Conventional Fixtures Source Four vs. Source Four Junior

Do yourself a favor, get away from the S4 stuff and stick with the Altmans.....more bang for the buck.....and there's still a lot more of these out there than the S4 stuff. I do not like the S4 shutters, very touchy and flimsy. I've lit many a show with a range of 360Q's (6x9, 12, 22) and have...

    360Q is burning gels

I haven't had this problem since I quit using RX, and started using nothing but Lee. The deeper saturated colors always last longer with Lee gels. It seems to me that in the past year of so, roscolux has just been getting crapier than ever. Not sure if they changed their formulas or what, but...

    Conventional Fixtures 360Q

360Q still rocks, and I'd take an Altman fixture over an S4 anyday. I saw several on ebay last month that went for practically nothing. I think the shipping cost more than the units sold for, and they looked to be in decent shape.

    Choose A Leko For Me.

Well, with it being a high school situation, for the budget and ease of use, I would go with the 360q's. I have used them for many years, and had no major issues with them.....easy to maintain, changing lamp is quick, shutter replacement is quick (but rarely needed). You just can't beat them...

    Who's more important?

Sound, lights, spots, SM and ASMs need to be on coms/headsets. Q-lights for the conductor should be just fine, and won't cost that much to rig....who knows, you probably have enough scrap stuff lying around to build a set. If that doesn't work, I agree with Destrox and Chris above....let the...

    Control/Dimming Lighting Console: 24/48

I use a Strand 200 24/48 on a weekly basis, and it does a great job. I have no problem not having q-stacks. I just set my scenes and load up the subs. The ETC is a good option too.

What do you think of the Source Four JR?

If it were my choice, I'd keep the altmans. I have several S4 jr zooms, and wish I were rid of them. The shutters suck. The altmans may be clunkier so to speak, but they will last forever.

    Designing Questions

Van makes perfectly good sense, but if all else fails and you are just a startup company, there's nothing like a drafting table with a pencil and a good set of lighting templates. Sure is a lot cheaper than buying a program. A majority of the shows I do are still done by hand. I ran a CAD...

    Problems with Altman 6x9's

You may have a lamp in one of the units that is going into its Nova stage before going out. I would suggest changing the lamp to see if that helps.....also try cleaning the lenses as mentioned earlier. I also saw some lamp bases on e-bay the other night...they had a little age on them, but it...

    Anyone using Teatronics dimmers?

Be glad your high school has dimmers.......ours were all non-dims, uh the name brand was squareD breakers. If we were doing any type of drama or touring stuff, we had to go through the trouble of renting from the local theatre that had some packs and a board we could use.

    Conventional Fixtures Favorite Gel Color

Re: favorite gelsI used to be a rosco fan and would use nothing but rosco.....I have now switched over to Lee because I think their gels last longer, especially their deep blues in front of S4pars....but that's just my opinion. They also have deeper lavs and reds for R & R type lighting.
