    Cable Turner/Bender

    I'm with Ethan put the turnbuckle on the batten and not the piece. What you lose in easy of leveling you gain in ease of construction.Also, Electrician Speaking here, so I could be way way off. As long as you don't turn the lift line at too small of a bend radius (there are rules, ratings for...

    Wet Z-Tek (Zetex) ?

    Lucky to be working in the theater this week, however we're unlucky that the reason is our theatre flooded.Our Z-tek fiberglass heatsheild got soaked, couple of 60' lengths . Is it inherently Heat/Flame resistant or would the water have damaged its head-shielding properties?Thanks

    European -> American Fixture

    @josh88 @pyrotechnician Thank you for this great insight. You guys are spot on, no pun-intended. This is supposed to be a 'faithful, no substitutions' remount of a German Ballet from the 1970's. It will of course be updated out of necessity, however all best efforts are being made.Thanks All

    The kicker is, whatever it is. It is a theatrical fixture.

    Open Orch Pit Sign

    Mitigation is key. Don't forget about a good old fashioned rope. One Theater I work at has a long, trucking style ratchet strap that is tensioned to the proscenium walls at railing height when the space is unsupervised. Several theaters place stanchions when ever the pit is open/down, but a...

    Control/Dimming Combined DMX Universes?

    This is what I usually find in old systems as well.You may need to send DMX down the lines 1 at a time, then plug something into each output to test if they are getting single from 1 or 2.Also, when you say 'module that controls the whole DMX system' what is that?

    Dimmable Fluorescent Rentals

    Actually, the problem is they no longer make this type of fixture. It was fairly standard rental inventory even 10-15 years ago. However LEDs has made this concept obsolete and they pop back into my world only when someone is remounting an old piece, or a theater still has them in inventory.

    European -> American Fixture

    Hey Team,Working on a large production from Germany coming through our space. Having a great time working with their LD. However, I'm stuck on one type of fixture that is getting lost in translation both literal and figurative. It started as a " Neidervolt, similar to a single lamp from a...

    Dimmable Fluorescent Rentals

    Anyone have leads on major rental houses that still stock Dimmable Fluoro? Starting my search for a show in the spring. Told 100% no substitutions, I know there are plenty of LED options out there, used plenty myself. Thanks for any leads!

    Unison System - Losing Timing

    Long-time Lurker, first time poster.Recently took over a space with a 15 yr old Unison system. It controls house lights, warmers, and works with various screens, buttons, and switches as you might expect.Various presets for things that dim, smooth fades between. Switches/Buttons and relays...
