    vaudeville-style moving waves

I have one in this scene but I don't have any pictures of the working parts. The waves hang on a set of vertical levers that ride in bearings at the bottom so they travel in an arc both vertically and horizontally. The hangers are mounted on a frame that is sandbagged in place. A 60 rpm...

    circular saw circle

You might try using a circular saw to knock off the big chunks, but a router on a stick will make wonderful circles, like this: These arcs had to be concentric, so I made a pivot at the center with one bolt and clamped a router at the right radius for each arc. I used this same technique...

    Louver Shutter Shape

Re: Tilt bar for shuttersHow about a piece of aluminum channel about 1/2" on a side. Drill holes at the right distance apart and put screws through them into your louvers. Leave the screws loose enough to pivot.

    Track Rollers

That is a shower door track. A local real lumberyard (not a big box) might be able to match it, but it is very lightweight. As has been said, try overhead garage door tracks for more weight or shed door tracks for even more weight. Of course, the metal wheels on these will be very noisy, but...

    Pegasus columns for Xanadu..........help please!!

I carved flutes in sheets of 1" extruded foam with a 1" core box bit (a round nose) in a router to make the fluting, then glued them to piece of 12" dia. Sonotube to make 8 foot tall columns. Fortunately, theyit did not need to be tapered, making the fluting easy to carve. Covering them with...

    Flying Paper

If the paper needs to stay flat, rather than curled from the suggested scroller, get the paper feed mechanism from an old copier. Office supply stores probably have them sitting around for free.

    Ethafoam Rod Alternatives

Look in concrete supplies. Where a piece of concrete butts against a building, a gap frequently forms. They have foam backer rod in many diameters that they stuff into the deep crack then fill the shallow remaining crack with flexible caulk.

    Remote motor

I just googled "electric door opener" and got over 10 million hits. Whilea lot are for garage doors, some are for swinging doors like this:http://gizmodo.com/178549/electric-door-opener Something already designed for your purpose might be affordable.

    Building a Movie Poster Frame

I got my bulbs and sockets from Action Lighting, as already mentioned. (You guys are too fast for me.) Rather than have a predictable chase sequence, I used their 'twinkle' bulbs that have a little flasher built into each bulb. That way, they blink randomly, which was the effect I wanted...

    I need a steel bush

Actually, I am serious about this. Being outside, I have a lot of room to keep the actors and audience away from fire, but I do want them to feel heat in December. For example, this is the gate into Bethlehem. The 2nd floor guard is actually about 10 feet away from the torch flame and...
