yea, it was patched into one of our worklight circuits, not in the main board so it wasnt turned off. Turns out it was wired by some freshmen. figures. And after that happened i taped the sh*t outa it and had a little talk w/ the lighting techs.

In my school techs can have a multi-tool in their locker, in the theatre, or going to or from these places. Our TD got us this because all of our lighting stuff, (instruments, gels, gobos, etc.) our in our gel bay, up a rather tall ladder. It just doesnt make sense to have to lug all those tools...

Does anyone know of anywhere that makes throat mics for coms w/ the 4 pin xlr? If not does anyone know of a way to jury-rig a connection? The sound tecs at my theatre have been workin on this on the side for years.

I think that everyone involved in high scool theatre has had this exact story, over and over again. My first SM-ing went ok, the best advice i have to give is to never yell at the crew. If something went wrong, ask them why and work with them to fix it.

i saw a production of rent and they used some pretty intense footlighting during one of the songs to create a larger then life shadow effect on the back curtain. Very effective.
