Did you only have one monitor before? And now you are trying to add a second?You might want to try exiting to the shell and looking for monitor arrangement and making sure that both inputs are "enabled". Then it should identify both and then you can select what you see on either screen.

Thanks for all your help! I bought a 5 dollar fluorescent fixture casing, gutted it, and laid RGB led tape inside. I'm currently wiring it to be dmx controllable. I think this solution will work for my purposes.
