I have to agree with OnWithTheShow. I've TD'ed a couple shows here at my high school and the most recent one I had to run the light board because I was short on crew. Well my ASM backstage (the only one backstage I might add. But we weren't using wireless mics and there was hardly set changes)...

Giving out actors notes at the end of the rehearsal is also more personal. And they're less likely to forget because it's written down as well. That's something I kind of overlooked because I'm so used to doing it that I forget that others don't. :?

The SM is the most important member of the crew here. They're the ones who've usually worked everything (high school : sound, lights, spot, backstage running crew, TD, ASM). I'm biased tho! :wink:

That was just an idiot from the hire company though. Personally I'm not fond of the Frog desks because we have a Zero88 in one of our auditoriums which gives us a LOT of problems.

I still can't thank you guys enough. dj_illusions, I wish I had equipment like that here!! I just ended up making a regular CD with the SFX on it the way that they appear in the script. I dream of a real theatre area (not something that is used as a lunchroom) and real sound equipment....

I guess I'm lucky enough that both backstages in my school are connected to a hallway that I can use to put my prop table if need be. I'd suggest though making the actors check every night to see if their props are there anyways. I've found that, although they may not care about other people's...

Definatly backstage. As a TD/SM myself I've never managed a show watching it (quite honestly I can't remember the last time I worked on a show and saw it from the front). At the same time however I always delegate a lot of small tasks to my ASM for practical reasons (I graduate in 9 weeks)...
