Hey, all.
Yea, it's been awhile - what's to be said? If there's anything crazier in life than theater, then I'd like to know what it is. Anyhow, a toggle from Gaff reminded me that I hadn't been around for awhile.
So, here I am, five shows later and no richer to show for it - god I...
I'm a hands on kinda girl - all right, stop it right there, you guys! In a 'real' theater, it would be a different matter, but I work in a community theater and the SM wears many hats, including setting the stage and props. It's rough when you can't get down on your hands and knees to place...
Not a lighting person, but I'll add my hellos as well. There is so much info here that it may take awhile to absorb it all, but well worth the time invested.
Ask, answer and have fun!
Yesterday, I had my orthopedic surgeon tell me that my active days backstage are drawing to a close and that he wants to work one show a season - period, that includes design and SMing. Of course, I can still work in the front office, since that's just computer work...not a happy camper today.

We have one SM who seriously believes she is GOD and...
Welcome on board, Joe! You're right that this is a great place for info. I have yet to think of something that someone else hasn't already thought of and answered.

And I'm really good at "Lights? You need lights? I don't do lights, man." - sorry, set designer, SM, scenic artist, but not LD. I look forward to reading what you and the others have to say.
Seriously, welcome to the Booth. Ask, answer and have fun!
Sorry to check in here so late, but this latest show has been a bear. When someone asks you to design, create props and be the scenic artist - say no!
Anyhow, I worked on a vertical frame for 13 years before a back injury cut my painting career short. What sort of questions did you have or...
Oooh, deceitful and amusing? That sound a bit like my first date...
Welcome to the Booth - it is a great place to find info and chat with like minded folks. It is always an amazment of mine just how savvy and knowledgeable the people here are and how willing they are to share that info...
