    How to approach college visits

At our school it was left to the department chair to arrange and handle visits by potential students and any accompanying family (typical). Thus the chair carefully controlled what the potential student learned and saw. An option is to examine the department website and reach out to a...

    Kliegl 1550 Series Help

Unscrew the lamp cap on the rear top of fixture ?. Used to use the FLK 1000 watt lamp, not sure those are still available. I think the more recent 575 watt version is the GLC. Uses the medium 2 pin base. Would not surprise me if, do to age, the sockets are burned out.

Best practices as house when hosting touring production's lighting network

Obviously, just having the tour desk send upwards of 4 universes of DMX to a port the house provides! with Advanced Input Patch allowing control over stuff like house and works, is the cleanest and easiest setup. Problems develop as the OP noted if the need is for more than 4 universes, maybe...

Best practices as house when hosting touring production's lighting network

sACN is likely the go-to if getting a network signal, as opposed to trying to have the visiting desk send DMX. The advantage to the DMX into your nodes approach is it gives you control over what addresses the tour desk accesses. We would, as example, not give control of house lighting, that...

    Expensive musicians chair

As seen onstage at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Siciliy. They were setup for an operatic recital, every chair, there were 40 or so, was this design. Adjustable for height as well as back height and angle. This as BTW, the third largest theater in Europe and the largest in Italy, even though...

Aja recording, how it was done.

To all my fellow audio specialists, this was a terrific interview with a famous L.A. audio enigjneer, Bill Schnee. Grammy winner and the primary engineer on the famous Steely Dan album Aja, with what is arguably the finest drum work ever laid down on a R&R album by Steve Gadd. Great interview...

    Counterbalance For Lights

It sounds like the pipe was not all the way in to deck and just locked off at the rail, with the rope lock holding it. Then as you removed units, with an imbalance occurring having more weight on the pipe then on the arbor, the purchase line slipped in the lock, thus the pipe settled quickly to...

Sensor rack saying it's got a tripped breaker, when it doesn't?

Never had that happen on legacy Sensor or CEM 3. We used to just pull a dimmer and replace with a relay. The brains don’t really care, they just pass along DMX and the relay just responds above 50% as far as I remember,

Sensor rack saying it's got a tripped breaker, when it doesn't?

Look for the simple thing first. I think there might be fuses on a relay module ?

Can I get 240V from ETC Sensor rack by combining 2 circuits?

I cannot think of any location in the U.S. or Canada where you do not need an electricians license from the local JHA to do any permanent electrical installation work. Might be wrong, I would be surprised though. There was a period in my village on the south shore of Long Island, NY where...

New Ion xe no DMX on boot

Always hard to guess what’s going on. I assumed the Ion puts out DMX, that goes into the APS, which merges DMX for house and stage lighting, that signal goes to the opto to be distributed to “dimmers and fixtures”.Seems to be a simple problem solving. Remove the APC and opto. Run DMX just...
