    Paperwork Examples

Thanks for the links! I'm actually also a member at SM Network. :DYou're right, paperwork can be very personal for us, but we also can be very proud of it. I'm mostly proud of my calendars.I actually have come across this a lot. I make a habit of requesting a small PDF light plot and hookup...

Brand New Theatre!! What would you put in it??

I think the key here is to start at the top and break it down. Scenic Shop Proscenium Stage House Offices and Meeting Rooms Design Studio Then, break it down more. Scene Shop-Equipment Saws, Pneumatic Tools, Automation Gear, Welding and Metal Working Gear, Loading Doors...

Control/Dimming Help me pick a console!

Re: Console suggestionsETC ION all the way. It's a great board for combining conventional fixtures and intelligent lights, and it's very user friendly.I'd say, though, if you can't afford and ION, at least stick to ETC. They are wonderful with tech support-I've spent hours on the phone...

Hey all! I was wondering how you model your paperwork. We were discussing it in my Stage Management class the other day, and I was curious. Here's my sample Production Analysis: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/101273190/Stage%20Management%20Paperwork%20Examples/Rumors%20Production%20Analysis.pdfMy...

    Is College for Me?

To be clear, my focus the past few years has been in lighting design and stage management. I'd like to try artistic direction some day, but I don't know if it is for me.So now I'm getting mixed responses. I've successfully designed period shows by simply learning about the area on a per-show...

    Is College for Me?

I thank you all for your responses. You are all very supportive, and this is more feedback then I've really gotten from family and friends. So I gather I should go to school, somewhere, and get some sort of communications degree. It just frustrates me to work at community theatre levels as an...

    Is College for Me?

Will do!I did apply with Big Apple, and I hope I get it. I will definitely have to look into to cruise ships...I know, I'm just afraid that if I don't do it soon, I'll never do it, you know?Does anyone have any recommendations of non-traditional theatre settings I could apply to?

    Is College for Me?

That's probably the most reasonable option. I have sent out my resume to several places on there, and I did just finish summerstock, and I'm getting ready for another show.I did apply for a position as as a Spot Op for the Big Apple Circus. They pay your travel, meals and such. That would be...

    Is College for Me?

That's what I was thinking.I'm currently living with my family. I graduated high school in May, so I haven't moved out yet. There are jobs in the area-but nothing that would really be able to help me into my career. The Renaissance Theatre, where I've already interned, has hired me again as...

    Is College for Me?

Howdy all.I know the sticky has some information, but this is really a specific problem.I have been involved in educational theatre and community theatre since I can remember. Last summer, I interned at a larger local production house, and this summer, I worked with the local Light-Opera...

    Stopping a show

No, in case of fire they would climb down to the midrail, and down the ladder. HOWEVER, in case of a Zombie Apocalypse, they could escape via the smoke vents; there is no fire in the theatre when the zombies invade.

How do I make a ghost appear?

Depending on the budget, check these out:Actor In The Box (Props & Decor) I've seen this used in combo with a trap in the deck to make a ghost magically rise from the ground. If you can, I think it would be neat to put Scrooge on this thing: Exorcist Bed Levitator (Props & Decor) Not sure...

Where to find a good Bite Light?

The wardrobe people also carry a few. For them it's super practical because they aren't as bright as headlamps, and they can assist with quick changes, handsfree. They seem very functional for that, but nothing else.

    Stopping a show

The school I used to go to had a simple policy; if the fire curtain did not drop, then we did not panic.Actually, the SM would call "Hold, please" over coms, and project it to the actors onstage. He/She then would use the PA to make an announcement. If, for any reason, there needed to be an...
