    Program/Continuous/Peak-speakers and amps

This is something that I have never really understood for a long time. On speaker specifications, wattages are called continuous, program and peak. I Understand what peak is. However, I thought that program and continuous were the same, until I saw it on one sheet for one speaker. What do they...

    I need help!

I am in Ladysmith, WI. For those of yo who don't know, that is an hour north of Eau Claire. For the most part, our system will be used for a general wash every Sunday. However, our church does a Christmas Contata every year. This is a huge production for us. As I look at what we have, 24...

    I need help!

Alright, I know I'm really a sound tech, but I also the over-all tech-guru at our church. We are in the process of renovating our sactuary and want to install a complete lighting system (board, dimmers, racks, etc.) What all do I need (so I know I don't forget anything)? What companies do...

    Capacitor

Thank you all. I had taken electricity class, and knew what a capacitor was, but is didn't quite make sense. It does now, though. Thanks.

    Capacitor

I purchased a tweeter pair for some speakers of mine. I read the installation instructions and it said that if I don't have the tweeter connected to a crossover, I need to use the capacitor. But if I was using a crossover, I didn't need it. My question is simple. WHY?

    Headphones (cans?!)

I've had the same question about whether headphones were called cans or not.

    Back to the beginning.

I have heard many af you talk about schools teaching sound. I personally have hat to teach myself, mainly using trial and error. I was just curious as to how some of you learned the art of sound and where you learned it.

    Yamaha PM5D

I have never been lucky enough to use a digital board. From what I have heard they can be quite handy. How different are they from analog?

MIPRO Mics - Good or Bad

Like your said, your stuck. The only way I can see them changing their mind is if for some reason, the whole system craches when they need it the most. Another thought: Are you trying to tell them this stuff by yourself? The student voice can be drown out at times, especially by people like...

    EQ Techniques-Suggestions

I know that the room is a problem. I think the problem is a little of both. We are using the older PV SP-3's and I recently had to replace the woofers in them because one of them had been damaged. I figured a basketball or something hit it. Now that that problem is fixed, I am working on the...

MIPRO Mics - Good or Bad

I know very well the tight school budget situation. However, that hasn't stopped our school from buying already 6 Shure ULX series Systems with handheld and Bodypack microphones. The key to this was purchasing two a year, not all at once. We have another two that will be comming next year. Also...

    EQ Techniques-Suggestions

Now, I am going to be eqing a system in a gym. I have worked a little bit with sound in there and I can't seem to get it to sound right. Are there any tricks, or is a room like that beyond making your system sound good? Our gym has an open balcony and is made of bricks, all flat of course. So...

    EQ Techniques-Suggestions

Another question. If I know the freq respnse of the speakers I am using, is it a good idea to cut the freqs on the eq board that the speaker cannot produce?

    Splitting signals for monitors

I have heard that splitting a signal can effect the impedence of the mic. Is this true?
