no fly zone- but drop has to fly

hadn't thought about lifting the whole trough. lots of bunching- but depending on the material not a problem. Scrim would be fine like that....and probably better than on the roller. good idea!

    moving scenery wagons

some great thoughts. I'm guessing that a "tip jack" is a lot like a j-bar, but perhaps more dependable for not slipping off- maybe? It may be possible to unload the weight from the fixed casters by adding blocks that contact the stage when the steering end of the platform is dropped back down-...

    moving scenery wagons

what is the conventional wisdom on moving stage wagons? I am building some wagons that range from 4X8 to 2X8 with a minimum amt. of scenery on them (desk, door flat, bed, etc.). I want to make the change as quick as possible- so I thought i'd put fixed casters on one end, with a minimum floor...

no fly zone- but drop has to fly

hello all more enlightened than I- ever tried the textbook "roll-it-from-the-bottom-up-with-rope-wrapped-around-a-pipe" to get a drop up when there is no fly space/equipment? Don't have the money for the motors, etc. to roll the drops down, can't drop into a trough, and curtains leave too much...

How do the automated systems that move scenery wagons on and off stage work? thanks

    Forced Perspective

I guess what I'm talking about is almost like a "Roger Rabbit" look to house interiors, etc. where set walls seem to have and exaggerated perspective to them, not necessarily the whole stage look. I guess the perspective would start at the set wall and go upstage from there giving a sort of...

any hints on designing a forced perspective set? Interior/exterior scenes, some on wagons. Also, how do you handle doors and windows?

    I LOVE FOAM (SP?)

I've heard that electric charcoal starters are good "hot knives".

    moving "ghost light" ideas needed

folks- some great ideas. It's for a community theater show and I have a few months to experiment. I guess the spot/s4 from the catwalk may be the economical thing to do - time and dollars. I'll have to work on how to manage fog/haze so the entire beam doesn't light up, only the stage area...

    moving "ghost light" ideas needed

your'e right - the spot is the easiest thing. I was hoping to find a way to make it "dimensional", not just shining on the stairs, floor, etc. I guess that requires a haze or something to hit to make it appear in the air vs. on the floor, furniture, etc. It's a dark scene except for the...

    moving "ghost light" ideas needed

first timer here- need to simulate a "ghostly light" moving across stage in a path down a stairway and across the room (The Innocents). Have an etc express, and thought I would try a moving lite or maybe a dual gobo rotator on an S4 to get a sparkle/pulsating effect with some color...
