    I finally got a clew!

Mostly Fafner. But 202 bearings are a somewhat stock size and a commodity item used in many industries. I believe Timken bought Fafner a number of years ago. Here's a link: https://www.motionindustries.com/products/sku/00051309BTW- When I was employed by Tiffin from '94 to '96, they were...

    I finally got a clew!

You're welcome. These blocks were a bit of an outlier because they were so different than the standard. Sometimes it was difficult to get them accepted due to the differences.

    I finally got a clew!

Patience is a virtue, I'm told.I had to find one to show you one of them.Advantages:1. The spun steel sheave: It was a piece of heated steel spun at a high speed and the edge was split and formed into the V shape shown in pic 224. The shape allowed you to properly support a 3/16" cable...

    I finally got a clew!

The Roller family bought JH Channon from the Winchester family in the early/mid 60's. I know little about the Winchester family except that they had owned the company since the 30's. JHC, in those days (The 30's) was more like Grainger in it's range of hardware. The one old Channon catalog I've...

    I finally got a clew!

Thanks for the shout out. Yes, JH Channon made them but, to my knowledge, not when the Rollers had the company. These would have been made when the Winchester family had the company, I believe.T

Vintage Lighting Help with an old model Davis Dimmer

I used to repair Ariel Davis equipment in the '70's. And their progeny, Electro Controls. We replaced a system with Davis Slide-Patch a few months ago at Percy Julian HS here in Chicago. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to salvage one of them. They were a pain to work with but they looked cool...

Steve, We've built dance towers for groups here in Chicago over the years. Very similar to your description. They work well.

    What are these!???????

I've seen a number of wooden curtain tracks in old theaters. Thankfully, we were able to talk the customers into replacing them. Most of the sliders had 1" to 1 1/2" balls with heavy wires to support the curtains. I could see these being someone's "superior" slider in a wooden track.T

Lighting a Cyc in a Black Box under a Tension Wire Grid

After we installed, for us, the first tension grid installed in a proscenium theater, we found that using LED cyc lights above the grid made for grid shadows that wouldn't have been as noticeable with incan cyc lights. It was a surprise to all of us. We tried diffusion over the cyc lights with...

    13,000 Mystere performances

    Adjustable Grip Hitch

Maybe I'm missing something here, but why not tie your banners to to a pipe or conduit? Then hang the pipes from your batten. You only have two points to level each one. And leveling the pipes to each other could be done easier and faster than worrying with soft goods bagging, etc. Then fine...

    Next Flash Lights.

I use a Streamlight Strion LED, not the HL or HPL. I get an effective light for seeing 40 to 50 high grids with an under 6" pocket flashlight The beam spread at 40' is about 4'. At 70', the spread is about 10'. Strions have been my work flashlight for a couple of decades. My LED is...

How much gaff does it take to rust-proof your pipe?

I lied anyway. We paint the ones we sell yellow so they are easier to aim for with your ankle when they stick out of the pocket. Also, maintenance is less likely to "borrow" yellow pipe.T
