Martin usb dmx dongle - is anybody using one outside of lightjockey or whatever the current Martin software is?

I watched the ad for the original Macintosh during the 1984 Superbowl, despite not being a fan of the NFL – my roommates had decided we were having a party and watching the game. Not quite two years later I got to see one in operation at a student journalism conference and was completely blown...

FOLO: Using an LS9-32 as a stagebox

Glad to see you got the routing worked out. It's been a while since I did direct out patching on an LS9 (via ADAT cards), but was going to offer to help anyway. When this show is over I'd recommend pulling the Dante card from the spare LS9 and keeping it handy. One nice feature of the Yamaha...

    Shure v Senny

My issue with the Axient system is the batteries. Why TWO form factors, with the requirement for separate chargers? Also had the battery lock fail on a pack recently. Fortunately it was while loading the battery in, not during use, and we had a spare.

    Adjustable Grip Hitch

teqniqal got there first – I was going to suggest a Gripple or similar product. If you are going to do this, especially where people may be walking/sitting/standing under the sign, you should be using rated aircraft cable and assembly hardware. The Gripple is easily adjusted and generally more...

    Help with Mic Selection

Hi jack63ss.Everything that's been said above about mic placement, mic selection, stage layout, music direction, inverse square law, etc., is true, and equally applicable to your problem. What everyone seems to be assuming however, is that your show has both the main choir and smaller...

    Splicing In-Line Audio Cable

I spent about 10 years doing installation and maintenance work on cruise ships, where inline connectors aren't allowed – not even within a rack. All the connections had to be made within a non-conductive outer "shell", so we used barrier strips for any points out in the "field" where wiring...

    Telex PS-2L

As much as ClearCom is the industry standard for entertainment intercom, I personally prefer the Telex wired systems. They work, they sound good, and they play very well with other brands. If the power supply is bad, it's worth the effort to get it fixed or buy a new one. A performing arts...

DANTE Network with X32, 2 M32's and a D400 Aviom Switch- Audio Popping

Everything in your reply is valid and makes sense, but the Dante network I'm dealing with doesn't have a DHCP server, so everything has to be either static or self-assigning.For whatever reason, the designer or installer (more likely) set it up as static. Once I figured that out it was a...

ClearCom FreeSpeak II, 2-wire power issue

I've used a very similar setup and was involved with setting it up, but it's been a couple of years since I last worked on it, so my memory of exactly how it worked best is hazy. First, try setting the system up with the configuration you want to use, but without patching through any permanent...

DANTE Network with X32, 2 M32's and a D400 Aviom Switch- Audio Popping

From material on the Yamaha site about switch setup, I've come to the same conclusion that it's something I did, or didn't do, in creating the VLANs. It's likely to be the setting in the ports connecting the main Dante switches in the rack room to the SG300. That will get looked at when I'm back...

DANTE Network with X32, 2 M32's and a D400 Aviom Switch- Audio Popping

They sounded very much like the ones on the video clip you posted – but louder, and more frequent. If they were only present on one of the recordings, I'd be looking at the computer or video deck as the problem area, but they are on all three. The common connection point was the switch, so we...

Clock Master is the Rio 3224. No to error messages.

DANTE Network with X32, 2 M32's and a D400 Aviom Switch- Audio Popping

Thank you for the link. I'll definitely be looking at what Yamaha says about the SG300.To be clear, we removed the switch AND changed the individual channel recordings to direct out from the QL1 via ADAT optical, so it could still be Dante problem related to the way I had the signal flow routed.

DANTE Network with X32, 2 M32's and a D400 Aviom Switch- Audio Popping

Definitely sounds like digital artifacts, and definitely isn't general distortion or noise floor issues. The system was set up by the installer, in early 2019, and literally nothing was added to the Dante network until last October, when we shifted from doing in-person recitals to recording...

DANTE Network with X32, 2 M32's and a D400 Aviom Switch- Audio Popping

I did have multicast enabled for the flows. The switch was set up with two VLANs, one for the Primary and one for the Secondary. I know this isn't best practice, but it's my understanding that it's more about the potential failure of a single piece of hardware taking down the entire Dante...
