    ETC Console Order Issues

Received our Ion Xe 20 yesterday, just 50 weeks after our order. Perfect timing, as we’re starting our table read today. Had a little scare when the Enter button stuck, but I was able to remove the keycap and unstick it. Thanks to Gary Duerkop for always having a friendly reply to my requests...

    ETC Console Order Issues

Yeah, I talked to them about two weeks ago. They didn’t get the July shipment of chips they had anticipated. They’re redesigning the console around a new chipset, but that requires time. They said they won’t be able to start shipping consoles with those new chips until October.I don’t have a...

Yeah, we’ve been using it. It’s been pretty helpful.

    ETC Console Order Issues

For the consoles, the guy I corresponded with said that the issue is still getting the chips they need.At this point, I won’t be able to use it until next school year, and our first major production is not until November. But I do need to train my tech crew up on the new equipment. We went...

    ETC Console Order Issues

I had a very nice E-mail exchange with someone from ETC, and I think that my communications issues were actually the fault of the dealer. We ordered through B&H because we have an existing relationship with them and it was part of a larger order associated with a grant. Turns out B&H is not an...

    ETC Console Order Issues

I understand the chip shortage. I, too, ordered sound equipment that took months to arrive. It's the repeatedly changing deadlines obvious shipping errors, and premature billing that have me frustrated. And, yes, indeed, the price has increased significantly since we ordered.

    ETC Console Order Issues

Edited to Add: After doing more research and communicating directly with ETC, I now think that my issues are not with them at all, but with B&H Photo Video and whatever ETC dealer they ordered the drop shipment through. I wanted to edit this to reflect that, because I’m now getting really good...

Constructing a weight-bearing girder set piece

The boys and I constructed it yesterday and today, and we’ll be painting it Monday. We tested it out today and had about 600lb of teenager on it. I’ll be sure to post an image of it on stage when it’s done. Thanks for all the advice!

    LED Houselights - first impressions

I’m going to have to look into something like this eventually. A few years back without consulting me our physical plant manager decided to replace our halogen pars with LED pars for efficiency, with predictably bad results.

Constructing a weight-bearing girder set piece

We’re just going to span the space between two black boxes. We may put a lifting strap for show, but it will not be load-bearing.I understand that. I meant I would add 2x3 or 2x4 supports outside of the beam, simulating a plate girder like this: https://images.app.goo.gl/cNTxWFrAP6wQFAGj7...

Constructing a weight-bearing girder set piece

If it needs further bracing, I have plans to run vertical stiffeners on each face. I want to see how stiff it is when built, first.

Constructing a weight-bearing girder set piece

Combining people's suggestions, I’m thinking about something like this, from 3/4” plywood, with 2x4 internal supports. Glued and screwed. Add some fake bolts and a convincing paint job and I think it should do. Thoughts?

Constructing a weight-bearing girder set piece

It will be spanning a 6’ space, will support three people, seated. My understanding of the blocking is that there will be no standing.
