    FS: Misc Lighting and Controllers

How many of the generic LED pars do you have available?

    Rack Drawings

Would definitely be interested in a community sourced library. I use SketchUp's warehouse religiously!

LED pars as foot lighting for front lighting a stage ?

Unless the crazy shadows on the back wall are what you're going for. Did that a few weeks ago for the Mark Wood Electrify Your Strings program. Awesome effect!

Loudspeakers Subwoofers and Live Musical Theater

I agree with the above. It's totally dependent on the specific show. Three months ago, I did Sound of Music. Didn't use them at all. I'm currently working on Green Day's American Idiot. I'm using the subs heavily between kick, low end piano, bass, and sound effects.

Communication from Backstage to the Booth

Just this weekend at the big Independence Day Bash, the city didn't provide the radios they were supposed to for open communication between, the stage, pyro (over 1000' away), booth, and other various places. The easiest solution for us was a heavily populated group phone call and bluetooth...

    Equipment & Cable ID Labels

Low budgets forced me to make my own labels. My school purchased the building and all of the cable/equipment from a church about 7 years ago. After working there for a year, I got tired of all of the "Fellowship Bible Church" labels on my cables, and none of them were color coded by length or...

    Headset mic recommendations welcomed

I have come to appreciate my Samson SE50s. While not by any stretch of the imagination the E6 (which stay in a locked drawer in my office). They are pretty great for the middle-high school students. Super durable. They come with a myriad of connectors since I have 4 different styles of...

    Followspot Suggestions?

In the middle of the upgrade/retrofit of our rig. Follow spots were pretty high up on our list as well. (directly under "build follow spot positions) We went with the Strong Canto 1200s. I am in love and would not recommend anything else to anybody. But they are on the higher side of the price...

    Pre-show Music

I use a huge variety for walk-in/pre-show music. I occasionally do the nature sounds to set the beginning of a show. I use the most recent KidzBop albums for school functions that have the smaller kids in attendance. I have a playlist on Spotify that I use for the older kids which tends to be...

    Drafting Advice

That is a valid point. For most of my applications, anything I produce is seen by the client for approval and sent directly to my shop to enter production. There's a different type of software out there for everyone all with different learning curves. Find the one that works best for your...

    Drafting Advice

So I'm weird. Prior to entering the entertainment field, I was studying and interning in Architecture. I use SketchUp for EVERYTHING! With the set of plug-ins and components I have, and my years of intricate work on it, I'm so fast that using anything else would only cause problems. I especially...

Question of Attitude... 'introducing' PPE to the workplace

I think you misunderstood my statement. PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) is always necessary. Be it steel toes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hat/bump cap, harness, etc. The type of PPE is determined by the risk involved. You've zeroed in on Fall Arrest which is just one type. I'd rather teach...

Question of Attitude... 'introducing' PPE to the workplace

I'm dealing with a similar situation. There was a technician hired at the school about 6 months before I came in. He refuses to wear fall protection in the cats and actually laughed at me the first time he saw me in mine. Yes, it makes a hang take a little longer. Yes, it's a little unnecessary...
