    Ion XE blank button

Just to be clear, you can still re-map the key in the shell in previous versions, it just defaulted to Macro 20, where other devices defaulted this key to Macro 821. With 2.7 they made everything 821 for consistency. If you haven't updated yet (and you're not in the middle of a run) I would...

    Ion XE blank button

If you are running 2.7 this button now defaults to Macro 821.However, you can change this mapping to any other macro, or any hard key in the "Buttons" tab, within the "Settings" section of the Shell. You'll have to scroll down to the bottom, it's labeled "Programming Wing/Ion XE/Element 2...

    ChromaQ ColorOne 100 dmx issue

Next step would be to check data speed of both the desk and the gateways, making sure the gateways are set to the same speed as the Ion, as you said you had no problems from that output.EDIT. According to the information on this page, you may be looking at completely different data timings...

    ChromaQ ColorOne 100 dmx issue

Sounds like RDM flicker, seems like you may have it turned off on the ION, but not on the gateways. You can do this through the GCE or at the gateways themselves by tapping the button until you see the RDM information for that port. Then press and hold for 5 seconds to disable.

    Pixel Strip Light Control?

If you are using the standard 512 nomad dongle then you will only be able to control 1.7 of these 5m reels. If you are wanting to use more than this, or control a stage lighting rig as well then you might want to ether look into a separate control software such as Enttec LED Mapper, which you...

    D.I.Y. Star Curtain

This might be a fun project to learn about addressable LEDs, often referred to as pixels. You could go with white leds (SK6812 WWA, APA-102cw) for a more traditional star-drop, or even RGB (WS2811, WS2812b, APA-102, etc.) for some interesting effects. You basically just daisy chain each LED...

Interesting uses for a 0v - 10v DMX to Analog converter?

How about using it to control modern architectural fixtures that only accept 0-10v for their dimming. I've had my eyes on these new side lit LED panels or "troffers." They're all over amazon in standard ceiling sizes like 1x3, 2x4, 2x2, etc. They're less than an inch thick and hardly weigh...

    Design Buying Older Vectorworks?

Not sure if you have the time to wait, but Vectorworks *typically* has a large sale on Black Friday or Cyber Monday. I seem to recall 40 or 50% off licenses, but only when you also purchase the "service select" subscription as well. Either way, it is still significantly less than the license by...

What to do with LED MR-16s... can they be wired in series?

Asking about the series wiring in reference to using these is a drop in replacement for MR-16 Mini Strips or Zip Strips, which are wired as 10, 12v lamps in series. Also curious as to whether a 12v AC transformer or 12v DC LED Driver would be best for powering singles, especially when it comes...

What to do with LED MR-16s... can they be wired in series?

They are indeed marked as 12V~ on the lamps, and it is my understanding that the ~ symbol denotes AC. The leaflet from Philips, linked below, just states 12V, so maybe there's some sort of electronic mojo inside that allows them to work with either AC or DC power? They do seem to work just fine...
