    Cutting out: bad antenna?

Sure - the theatre is at 28027. We only have those 6 slx combos in the 494-518 Mhz range. Unfortunately its impossible to manually set the frequency. We will probably end up borowing/renting for this show.On the 2 packs that had an obvious physical issue, I replaced the antenna with a...

    Cutting out: bad antenna?

okay, after a hour trying a bunch of things, it seems that there are 2 packs that cut out as there are rotated. upside down they will cut out, one of them cuts out when you pinch the end of the antenna.

    Cutting out: bad antenna?

Thank you - I should finally have a known good mic today and can narrow things down a bit. Some background - small community theatre with a huge gap in institutional knowledge. I was told that they used to have mics but didn't anymore - I eventually found all the transmitters and found a...

    Cutting out: bad antenna?

I will try that-Receivers are SLX4 with a UA844 antenna distribution. We have 6 total. The effect is just like a mic with a break in the line, and the effect is not range dependent at all.

    Cutting out: bad antenna?

Hey all- have some Shure Slx bodypacks that are cutting out. I have ordered some new microphones, but they are getting here the day before opening night (Doh!).When the cut outs happen, the antenna signal on the receiver will switch to the other antenna and stop showing an input, which makes...

Quick MagicQ ? - moving lights and aiming

Hello all - I'm using MagicQ on PC for an upcoming show and the community theatre, and recently had 4 chinese 90w moving heads donated. I found a head def that matched it pretty close (color assignments are off a bit) but works great otherwise.I have everything well measured, and the fixtures...

    Inexpensive Mic recomendations?

I wish I knew what killed them. This is a community theatre without a long institutional memory. This is my first time running sound for them - they weren't even sure they HAD wireless equiptment and had rented for the last 3 or 4 musicals. All I know is that most of the bad ones I have found...

    Inexpensive Mic recomendations?

With the amount of busted $$$$$ shure microphone I have I assume I will regardless. :) (mostly wire breaks - hold/wiggle them right and you get a signal until you exhale)

    Inexpensive Mic recomendations?

I couldn't find a recent thread with this topic, so I'll just ask fresh. Small community theatre doing a musical, and all but 1 of our microphones for our Shure SLX1 wireless transmitters is busted. Are there any reasonably priced lavs you can use in the hair that anyone would recommend? $150...

LIghting a musical with older stuff: Timecode, MSC from audio player, software, etc

I completly agree with you in most cases- I'm only thinking of automating the cue timing within the musical numbers. Since we are using background tracks, it would allow me to do a large amount of cues exactly with the music. Oftentimes that is very reliant if the skill and musicality of the...

LIghting a musical with older stuff: Timecode, MSC from audio player, software, etc

That was what I was thinking, and it's wonderful to have confirmation- now to figure out the best software to create and play timecodes along with the wav file....

LIghting a musical with older stuff: Timecode, MSC from audio player, software, etc

Background: Small community theatre, a venerable ETC Express 24/48, and a big musical. I am experienced but rusty - I was a lighting design major in college in the mid 90s, and jsut been getting back into it.Basically, I want to set timecode events to go along with the music. The easiest was...

Super basic questions about amps, standard hookups, monitors, etc

Thank you! That makes perfect sense. Now I just need to figure out what makes sense. I don't know if there is any way to make the house sound better - putting any kind of monitors in the organ loft just seems like a bad idea. It doesn't sound bad now, just a little flat.So why isn't there...
