    Pray...

Hey StageSweetheart, I happened to notice your location. Did you do 'HONK!'? Fun show, isn't it? We made bullrushes for weeks!

One month? That's impressive. And it's great that you had an experienced parent to help you. I wish we could get any help- we are a very academic school, so drama isn't exactly a high priority. Means we don't get much of a budget either. I can understand the working til midnight thing too...

How big is your crew? And how long did you get to spend doing Into the Woods? With a crew of four- including me, and two months, I wonder if we could have pulled off anything that big. (Although it would have been fun to try!) We have no stage :( , so sight lines aren't usually a problem :) .

That's awesome! I was actually really looking forward to making a giant, but the director thought it would have a greater impact on the audience if the giant couldn't be seen. We used an actress in the tech booth with a really loud microphone. Almost blew out the speakers! I found it...

    Stage Management Kits

Cough candies too. Nothing worse than a persistant cough in the middle of the show. Oh, and wet naps, as odd as that sounds. They come in handy. :)

We did, but it was no use. We used every type of glue know to mankind (epoxy resin), and we spent about a week trying to fix it in between shows. It was all no good because it was a crucial spot. It usually managed to hold for the first half hour of every show, so we did get through it. :?

Wow, you do have a nice sized crew! I did 'into the woods' with 4 set, 4 props, 1 light, 1 sound, including me. But the actors are horribly trained and treat us like slaves. That's why we needed so many props people- running around finding the props after the actors threw them in a corner...

    "Wardrobe Malfunction"

Hey, I was Ruth in Blithe Spirit last year- before I became a techie. And we did it in two acts. If you are still doing it, we avoided that particular problem by me pretending to read the paper, and generally fuming for a couple of extra seconds and Edith coming in with breakfast. Then Charles...

    Unruly Crew

I agree, it could be part of the problem. It probably isn't the whole problem. If you are stage manager, you must have some leadership qualities! Are you confident? If you are worried or nervous because it's your first time, it might spread to your crew. Or if you are upset, that tends to...

    Unruly Crew

Well, somehow I got control of the set and props crew at my high school after being an actor for several years. From the outside, looking in, everyone said our tech crew was impossible to, but from the inside, they are really dedicated people who sometimes need a nudge. I have the least...

Thank you both. Radman for making me laugh, and Ship for the good advice. I really am a newbie and this is the first really bad thing to happen in one of my shows. I will talk to my director (She rented it), and get a look at that contract ASAP.

Ahh! Last night in our production of "Into the Woods" our borrowed cow's frame snapped! We borrowed the cow from a professional theatre company, so needless to say, I'm a little freaked out. 8O Unfortunately, we can't really fix it because the frame is metal and needs to be welded...

Wasup! Yet another young Highschooler Techie.....

Hi! I understand your lack of funding woes! We don't even have a proper stage, and I'm sure that half the money for the actual set comes out of my pocket! We water down our paint, scavenge cardboard and beg the occasional $3 for a roll of duct tape. It certainly makes for a challenge and...

    Greeting from the frozen north.

Hi! Red Deer, huh? I'm in Edmonton! You seem to have so much experience!I'm a very new set designer and techie (small high school) and very new to the site! See you around the forums! -Vanessa
