Departed ControlBooth Members

Mike Taylor

Michael Taylor

@mstaylor

1958 - 2014
Mike Taylor was one of the most generous and faithful members of ControlBooth. He spent 4 1/2 years on ControlBooth, offering up his knowledge and advice to whomever asked. A truly gifted communicator, he spent countless hours making sure people stayed safe and did things the right way.

Brad Weber

Brad Weber

@museAV

1961 - 2014
Brad was such a brilliant example of what makes CB great. He was a consultant, his job was to sell advice. But in his spare time, he was here giving away advice for free to anyone who asked. Behind the scenes as a CB mod he was always the voice for being fair to all users and making sure we are consistent about how we enforce the rules. In his last 2 1/2 years as he suffered intense pain and battled cancer, he would still take the time when he was strong enough to come here and help others. His wife, Lori, raises money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by participating in an annual walk and pledge event that CB supports.

David North

David North

@DavidNorth

1966 - 2017
David North was a notable member of ControlBooth. Before taking the position of ETC's Rigging General Manager, he held a number of senior positions in ETC Technical Services. This often made him the go-to resource in our industry for the answer to the question "How do I fix this problem?", whether it was related to ETC gear or not.

Fred Foster

Fred Foster

@ETCFred

1957 - 2019
While not an active participant on ControlBooth, Fred Foster, co-founder of ETC, was a visionary, innovator, and a true leader in our industry. His contributions are hard to understate. He had a profound influence on not only ETC but on many lives of ControlBooth members. His warmth, joy, creativity and compassion will be missed.

Chris Bowra

Chris Bowra

@Chris15

1988 - 2019
Chris Bowra was a member of ControlBooth from the early years and a CBMod for over a decade. Living in Sydney, Australia, he spent a lot of time on CB when most of us were asleep. He had a big heart and would often reach out to people over private message and offer advice and help. Chris was a quiet, very competent guy who truly helped shape ControlBooth's community culture into what it is today. He will be missed.

Tom Kjera

Tom Kjera

@venuetech

1957 - 2019
Tom Kjera was a member of ControlBooth for over a decade. Living in Alaska, he was often on late at night and freely sharing his knowledge and was always on hand, especially for educators who taught the next generation the art and science of technical theatre. His contributions, his wit, and wisdom will be missed.

Ron Hebbard

Ron Hebbard

@RonHebbard

1945 - 2023
Ron was a regular guy like you and me grinding away at a career he loved. With years of experience in the industry and reaching the pinnacle of his career he suddenly went mostly blind and was forced to retire too early. He found CB and we became his eyes on the industry. He taught many of us from his vast wealth of knowledge. He was always eager to crack a bad joke. He read everything we posted, liking each post so he could tell where he had already been. He became the heart of CB having side conversations with so many of us over the years. The CB Community will not be the same without him and we hope wherever he is now, he's able to see again and be welcomed by the many theatre techs who preceded him.
Ron always used the same closing on every post and message,
so now its our turn give a final farewell,
"Toodleoo Ron"
